  • Haven’s flagship site, with Poole Harbour and Jurassic Coast views
  • A 10-minute drive from Poole and half an hour from Bournemouth
  • Restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, abseiling and miniature golf
On the scenic and ancient Jurassic Coast, with its own on-site beach and just 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Poole, the family-friendly (and dog-friendly) Rockley Park Holiday Homes has plenty to keep guests busy. This is Haven Holidays' flagship site, so you'd be quite right to expect a top-notch stay. A park pass grants guests access to everything from indoor and outdoor swimming pools (the outdoor one open only in high season) to a climbing wall and abseiling, with lots in between. Guests won’t be left adrift in the deep end either as swimming lessons are available on site. Those who prefer their activities to stay mostly in the dry can opt instead for games on the multisports courts, going game-set-match on the tennis courts, learning the ropes in archery and fencing, or putting around at miniature golf. That all takes a lot of energy, so be sure to stay well-fed. This should be easy hereabouts, as there are four restaurants and takeaways dotted around the site, plus a café by the on-site beach (where dogs can go off lead) and a small convenience store for picking up cooking supplies.

Bluebell 2 bedroom static caravan (pet friendly, four person)

Liked: Getting back home from the break at rockley park

Disliked: The van was a disgrace, I have been coming to rockley for the past 32 years I have never been in such a bad van, the woman I spoke to on the phone on arrival day was rude and ignorant I would not recommend this holiday let

Rambling Rose 3 bedroom static caravan (pet friendly, sea view, six person)

Liked: The greeting on arrival was lovely, the site (eg;grass) was well maintained and the caravan was reasonably clean.

Disliked: The caravan was not comfortable, we couldn't use the shower as the temperature knob would not work! so all week we could only have body washes, we had to buy batteries for the remote control for the tv.

Rambling Rose 3 bedroom static caravan (pet friendly, sea view, six person)

Liked: Location is excellent with local supermarkets nearby, bus to Poole town centre and shingle beach in short walking distance. Nice places to walk the dog and activities on site for kids. Kids enjoyed crabbing in the Harbour. Caravan comfortable and warm has everything you need for a short stay. Great directions given, easy to find.

Disliked: Activities on site including swimming require a pass for an additional fee from Haven. Certain activities such as swimming need to be booked in advance and on arrival there were no slots available :( Took a trip to the nearby Splashdown park instead which kids loved but disappointing not to be able to use the facilities on site. Haven site says dogs are welcome but they are not actually allowed in any of the buildings so have to sit outside if you want to eat/drink.

Local attractions

Stays hereabouts should certainly include many trips to the beach. With several sandy stretches in easy reach – including Sandbanks (25 minutes’ drive), Studland Bay (40 minutes) and Lulworth Cove (40 minutes) – watersports, swims and strolls are a cinch to get to. Beyond the seaside days, the play areas, animal experiences, go-karts and maze of Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park are 15 minutes from base, it’s 20 minutes to zooming down slides at Splashdown waterpark, about half an hour to monkey-see-monkey-do at Monkey World and Go Ape, and 35 minutes to the rides and play areas of Adventure Wonderland. Paulton’s Park, 55 minutes away, is a must-visit for rollercoasters, rides, animal shows and, of course, Peppa Pig World. When explores of the past are preferable, there’s much more round here than just dinosaurs. Within 15 minutes of the site, guests can wander the grounds of Upton Country Park and, after about half an hour’s drive, land up at the National Trust’s stately old pile Kingston Lacy. Also half an hour away are the heritage Swanage Railway – which can be boarded at Norden station – and the famed Tank Museum. For more urban-centric days, it’s a quick 10-minute drive over the lifting bridge into Poole for gardens, greyhound races and museums (including the RNLI Lifeboat Museum). The larger resort town of Bournemouth is half an hour away, and is a prime spot for beaches, art galleries, casinos and aquarium visits.
