  • Well-established Dorset park two miles from Blandford Forum
  • Kingston Lacy estate 15 minutes' drive; half an hour to the coast
  • Set within 14 acres of ancient parkland, with private walking trails
Seeking some proper peace and quiet for your Dorset break? Tuck yourselves away among 14 acres of ancient parkland at The Inside Park, a couple of miles outside Blandford Forum. The team here have been welcoming guests for more than 30 years, with many people becoming repeat visitors over that time. And what is it that keeps them coming back for more? Well, despite being so close to town (very handy when you want to pop out to the shops or find somewhere to eat out), this place has quite a magical secluded atmosphere. The pitches are about half a mile from the nearest road, and surrounded by a swathe of fine specimen trees that are home to lots of wildlife (deer, hawks and badgers are among the animals you might spot as you wander here). Getting out to explore your surroundings is easy here, as there are about six miles of private waymarked trails running through the farm’s land – excellent for walking the dogs or taking the kids out to spot some of the aforementioned wildlife. There are also woodland areas for the kids to play in, along with an outdoor play area and an indoor games room with table tennis, pool and other games. The owners of this site have clearly learned a thing or two about guests’ needs over the years they’ve been running the place, so now there’s a good list of facilities, mostly located within a characterful 18th-century stable and coach house – a launderette, food shop and modern accessible bathrooms among them. Spacious pitches on free-draining land round everything off nicely for a comfortable, chilled-out countryside break.

What customers say

Grand spot, highly rated for spacious pitches, brilliant kids' play area & lovely woods. Staff are sound, facilities are spotless. Can be buzzing at weekends, mind. Water pressure in showers a bit iffy & shop shuts early. Loads say they'll be back!

Electric grass pitch

Liked As a two family campers 4 adults and 4 children with a big tent and lots of space needed loved the pitch size we stayed in pitch 27 and unlike other camping establishments the pitches where well spaced and no real border just told the post is the middle of the pitch. Lots of room for cars should be one car per pitch but was told by the person in the shop it is quiet and plenty of room park both cars there. The park is brilliant the slide was a big winner with the kids. Well lit at night. Great facilities including the freezer for cool blocks. Lovely forest and walks surrounding areas loved the llamas and the peacocks and sheep on the scenic route in that was an added bonus as the normal road in was under repair. Great communication due to the road being under repair we where emailed in advance to tell us of the alternative route in. Very clean site all round and felt very secure.

Disliked Showers although warm could be more powerful but I have had alot worse.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at the inside park in July therefore we've booked again, the park itself is huge, the play area is exceptional plus the shower and toilet block are decent and the shop in reception is well stocked should you happen to forgot or need something (open 9-5)

Naturally of a weekend it gets way busier but it's to be expected, during the weekdays it's really quiet (in school term time), can't really fault the place, there's loads of walking trails from the park and the town centre isn't that far away should you want to go for a meal or you need to go to tesco or morrisons etc, under 10 mins drive away.

We're looking forward to our stay again 😃

Disliked Nothing, it's a very decent campsite, the 4g on my phone kept dipping out, but you should be enjoying the nature 😜

If you desperately need Internet you can connect at the reception and games room.

Local attractions

If you're popping into Blandford Forum (five minutes’ drive) for a bit of shopping, stick around to visit the Blandford Fashion Museum or take a tour of the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery. There’s also a leisure centre here with a pool, and you can head a little way out of town to the Royal Signals Museum (10 minutes). From this handy spot within the Dorset National Landscape, there are plenty of lovely walks and bike rides – plus more adventurous bike activities at Okeford Hill Bike Park (10 minutes). The spectacular Kingston Lacy estate (15 minutes), English Oak Vineyard (20 minutes) and Sculpture By The Lakes (25 minutes) give different ways to enjoy the scenery. And of course Dorset’s fabulous coastline isn’t far off either – drive for half an hour or so and you’ll be at Bournemouth’s splendid sandy beach or at the ancient coves of the Jurassic Coast.
