Pandora cabin

Liked: Nice to get children to play all day without their gadgets. The place was easy to find and good location to go out for the day to Seaton/Sidmouth/Honiton. Kids enjoyed making the fire each night and having the bbq. Looked cute with candles lit in yurt at night and solar lights hanging across cabin. Football area/swing ball was good for kids.

Disliked: Yurt became uncomfortably hot between 9am - 9pm. (Weather was luckily beautiful but this has an impact inside yurt). With kids, this meant there was nowhere to shelter from the sun. The yurt we were staying in (pandora) was in full sun most of the day so sitting outside could have been better if the long grass was trimmed on the right of the yurt which was only place we got shade but couldn't use unfortunately. There was also a local dog that barked incessantly from 6am/7am every morning. Mattresses were very hard. Utensils in Pandora covered in a huge cobweb. Not much lighting in cabin/toilets so not easy to find way around.

Atlas cabin

Liked: Loved the yabin, everything we expected - lovely to unplug for a week and although in a field of three Yabins, they're far enough apart to feel quite private if you want that too. Enjoyed day tripping around local beaches (sometimes in the late afternoon til evening as it was cooler - we had 28 degrees one day), fossil hunting at Lyme and Beer is a really pretty pebble beach. The site is a great place to make memories - our 5 year old learnt how to ride his bike properly in the yurt field. Had a great evening with glo sticks and a glow hunt we set up around the site for our 2 year old and 5 year old, when there was a break in bookings so we had the site to ourselves, which they loved before bedtime. Great place for some star watching too and the ghost stories around the campfire went down well too! Yabin did heat up in the day time in the high temps but easily remedied by opening the door and the door of the stove for the hot air to leave the Yabin quite quickly - certainly not too hot for our 2 yo to have an after lunch nap in, even in 27 degrees heat. Amenities had everything that you could've wanted - we did bring our own caftiere because with two small people we can't survive without coffee! But everything else we needed was already available and it was really lovely that we had our own cabin with toilet, shower, washing up facilities and cutlery etc. We also did bring extra camping lights because we'd read it was very dark and having someone who is not friends with the dark in our party, we wanted to make sure that we had enough lights to act as a nightlight through the evening. It worked really well and the fresh air tired them out anyway! It was lovely to hear the cows in the working dairy farm opposite, the farmer was lovely and made us feel welcome when we saw him come over to the site to collect something too. Natalie the site owner was really accommodating and communication was brill - where we were expected to park and anything else we needed to know. The shower was a bit hot in the heatwave but Natalie did turn it down for us (it was easy dealt with in the meantime by the children having jug showers rather than with the actual shower! Which they thought was an adventure!) we'd definitely recommend to friends and would love to return one day, perhaps in the autumn when it's optimum fossil hunting conditions and can imagine the Yabin is really snuggly with the stove lit!

Disliked: Not a dislike but a word of warning for non confident drivers- If you come off the M5 via Cullumpton the roads are a bit gnarly - very very beautiful but single track in some areas. But, this is much like a lot of Devon to be fair! We decided to avoid this on our day trips though and mostly went Via Honiton town centre - sticking to the A roads which was absolutely fine. Absolutely not a reflection on the site or the facilities - but just to let anyone else know that via Honiton is probably the easiest route if you're not used to rural roads (if you were taught that you weren't driving rural roads properly if your wing mirror wasn't in the hedgerow, you'll be fine!) Also, phone signal can be sketchy but once you're out on the main road towards Honiton, it's good again.

Pandora cabin

Liked: The rural setting and that it was a small site. Rustic but felt comfortable. Really liked your own designated shower and kitchen facilities. The gas stove on the decking was lovely to have a morning cup of coffee.

Disliked: Nothing really to dislike but the lights around the ‘Pandora’ kitchen/toilet block weren’t working and wasn’t ideal in the dark!

From the manager: Thank you very much for your lovely review, I am also sorry about the lights, I will get them sorted! Thanks again.

Atlas cabin

Liked: We absolutely loved our stay. My children (5 and 2) did glamping for the first time. We had beautiful hot weather. Morning breakfast at sunrise, days spent around the local beaches (it was too hot for planned hikes), and evenings spent around the yurt when my daughter was running around, playing and swinging in the hammock. Every evening we had dinner on the open fire or the BBQ. The yurt is very hot during the day, but when the sun goes down, the temperature goes on reasonable number and stays overnight. We were not cold at all at the beginning of September.

Disliked: The yurt gets very hot inside during the day. But nothing that I was surprised about.

Pandora cabin

Liked: We loved the open space! So much room for the girls to run around...flying kites, playing football and swingball. The kitchen area is really well equipped and it was lovely to have a real shower and toilet! We loved making campfires and using the woodburner. The yurt itself was spacious and clean. A really well thought out and cared for site. Great communication from the owners too. Very friendly.

Disliked: There is a little bit of a walk from the yurt to the bathroom but it honestly didn't bother us. We definitely plan on staying again.

Atlas cabin

Liked: Lovely location, quiet safe field for the kids to play, lovely helpful and friendly owners, large “yabin” with lots of room for the four of us. It was only half an hour drive from Charmouth and Lyme Regis which we loved.

Disliked: The bedding was not warm enough and the beds not so comfy, also missing a table and chairs under the porch area so we had somewhere to sit and eat when it rained. Filed would certainly benefit from a play area for the kids but they still had a great time without it.
