  • Peaceful family-run smallholding on the edge of Exmoor National Park
  • Five minutes' drive from Combe Martin; Croyde beach 25 minutes
  • Seven-acre site with a large nature pond; Bristol Channel views
Yetland Holdings is a quiet family-run smallholding campsite on the south-western edge of Exmoor National Park. Set among a patchwork of farm fields in the small village of Berry Down, this Devon spot has far-reaching views over the national park and the Bristol Channel beyond. This spacious site is spread over seven acres of level and well-maintained land where there is a large nature pond close to the main pitching area. Given its small scale and rural location, Yetland Holdings has good amenities that include toilet and shower facilities and a washing-up point. For anything more elaborate, you'll need to hit the road and head to Combe Martin five minutes' drive away, where shops, several pubs, cafés and a family-friendly beach are waiting. The village also has a kids' play area and a number of sporting facilities, including a watersports school and kayak hire. Yetland Holdings has a laidback approach to camping and welcomes student groups, single-sex groups, bikers and families. Four-legged friends are allowed to come and stay here too, but please keep your dog on a lead at all times when out and about on site.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great site - very quiet and friendly/accomodating owner - even offered us a lift back down to Combe Martin in the morning

Disliked: Difficult to get to from Combe Martin on foot (required walking up a semi-busy road)

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Late entry. Large flat space.

Disliked: Bit expensive for very basic amenities (£25/tent) No shelter for cooking.
Bad location for hiking campers due to being on an A road.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
I'm sorry you feel £25 per pitch (upto 5 people) is expensive. And there is no shelter for cooking, had you pitched on the hedge side of the field you would of had plenty of shelter.
The location of the camping site is clearly shown on the site map, and indicates the distance from the coastal walk to the location of the A road.
I'm also sorry you would not recommend us as the facilities we provide are basic, but are clearly listed on the pitchup page.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We absolutely loved the location, so beautiful and quiet, so much space for the children to play and seeing the farm animals was an absolute delight for them. The facilities were lovely and clean, the showers were fantastic for water pressure.

Disliked: We didn't dislike anything, just to advise that phone signal is very weak especially if the weather isn't too great. However, this didn't affect us as we were happy to embrace the off grid environment and be in the moment with our three young children.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great views of sea and Exmoor. The animals were entertaining. Friendly hosts.Clean toilets.

Disliked: Did not appreciate the dog and animal excrement on the walk to the toilets and showers. Not hygienic. There was only one sink to wash you hands near the toilets and this was also where you washed your dishes.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
Your title of "let down by hygiene of facilities" is very unfair, our toilets and showers are cleaned twice daily.
In response to the excrement, this is a working small holding and all our chickens, ducks, geese & turkey are free to roam the whole farm, as for the dogs excrement that is picked up on a daily basis.
The issue with the one sink, we already have in hand and we are adding a wash basin over the winter for next season.

Great! We will go back if in the area again
