Higher Huxhill Farm Campsite is a small family-run smallholding site in rural north Devon. The pitches at this Gammaton site are mown into the farm's hay meadows, with far-reaching views over the local landscape. Guests staying here have great access to the coast, with the nearest beach at Instow accessible within 15 minutes by car. Here you can look out for the neighbouring sheep and ponies, set up a firepit or barbecue or just relax and unwind surrounded by north Devon's abundant wildlife, including deer, foxes, owls and the occasional red kite. (Please note that only firepits and barbecues hired from the site should be used here.) The local area has excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits, with surfing or South West Coast Path walking down at the beach and cycling along the Tarka Trail (two miles from base) among the most popular options. The national parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor (both 45 minutes' drive) are both doable as day trips too. The local area is very quiet, but amenities like cafés, shops and supermarkets in Bideford (10 minutes) are within easy reach, as are small riverside villages like Weare Giffard (10 minutes) and their local pubs.
