Deep in Devon’s Axe Valley, Lower Keats Glamping is a luxurious site located on a small family farm. This place has just a handful of well-equipped and spacious safari lodges and welcomes all sorts of parties, from couples to families with kids and groups of friends. Well-behaved dogs are also allowed for an extra charge and can look forward to being greeted with a special doggy welcome pack. Each lodge, which sleeps up to six, is fitted out with comfy beds, an ensuite bathroom, a fitted kitchen with a double gas hob, and a woodburning stove. There's no electricity in the lodges, but the solar lights can charge small devices in an emergency and you can charge from the mains in the honesty shop. Outside, the firepits and barbecues provided should bring people together around the flames, while the kids can get involved in farm life by meeting and feeding the animals or collecting eggs. An outdoor gym area and playground also encourage outdoor living, and for rainy days there's a covered communal space where a pizza night is hosted twice a week. For provisions, the on-site honesty shop is kept stocked with local and homemade goodies, including meat and eggs straight from the farm; the nearby towns of Axminster and Chard are a quick 10-minute drive for restaurants, takeaways or more substantial food shops. There's also the small village of Tytherleigh, which is a half-mile walk away from base and home to a pub and farm shop.

Route directions

A satnav will bring you to the middle of Broom Lane. Carry on down the lane until you reach Lower Keats, which is the last turning on the left. The site has a flint stone wall and a gravel drive. If you reach the level crossing, you have come too far. If you are arriving at Axminster by train, make sure to book a taxi in advance, as it is rare to find one waiting at the taxi rank.
