Par Camping: Spacious pitches

General

  • Pet-friendly Cornwall site five minutes' drive from the Eden Project
  • Indoor market, food hall and play centre a short walk away
  • Retro American-style diner on site; food pub within walking distance

Par Camping is a spacious site in a convenient location five minutes' drive from the Eden Project in southern Cornwall.

This dog-friendly spot has a dedicated dog-walking area as well as well-maintained amenities like toilets and showers. There’s plenty of room for families at this sizeable site, where you can sit in the sunshine and breathe in some of that famed Cornish air over a cup of tea or coffee.

The coast is roughly a mile away from Par Camping, with the closest bathing option being Carlyon Bay beach. Seaside trips further afield are made easy here because of the site’s close proximity to the main A390, allowing you to get to Newquay, Fowey, Mevagissey and other scenic locations.

The site is located next to the very popular Par Market & Food Hall, where you can pick up all sorts of souvenirs, fresh local produce and tasty meals from a wide range of food outlets. There’s a pub with excellent food and a beer garden a few minutes’ walk away too.

If you’d like to stay on site to be fed, take a seat at Sam’s Diner, a 50s-style American eatery (all red-leather booths and appropriate memorabilia) to feast on juicy burgers and American-style shakes.

If the kids need somewhere to blow off some steam, that’s covered as well: Kidzworld, one of the largest indoor/outdoor play facilities in the southwest, is a mere two-minute walk from the site, with fun activities for kids of all ages (yes, parents included…)

Away from base, the village of Par also has a golf course, garden centre and café.

Please note

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Single-sex bookings of 5 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 5 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Location was close to carylyon bay beach, the market was great for fresh fruit and vegetables and the butchers is great . The owner was very friendly.

    Disliked:

The chemical toilets they were clean when we first arrived, they became very dirty and smelly very quickly. The market toilets were made accessible all day and night after a few days which made the site more bearable. There is no where to brush your teeth, many people were spitting around their tent areas.

From the manager...

Hi, we have now adjusted our toilet facilities. The portable toilets are soon to be moved to a new location as well as the main toilet block now being open 24/7. We apologise you had some issues during your camping experience. However, we are pleased to hear that you liked the location, the friendly staff and the market next door :)

I know it’s the first year but I think a few things need to be altered on your write up!!

The toilets, (portaloo) were above disgusting I’ve been to festivals and they didn’t smell that bad!!
once opened up the other toilet block it was bearable.

Showers 4 for the whole camp wasn’t enough imagine if site was full it would be awful. also after a few people had used them the water was freezing.

Long grass this was awful with the morning dew couldn’t really dry up as grass so long.

Car park used as a car boot (Thursdays) so couldn’t get car out car park as not allowed to park next to tent. (A lot of others did so)

Motorbike training on car park daily and early so couldn’t use exit as was told either.
Noise at night was unreal with locals (I presume) using the local roads as a race track.

Tree felling going on was told wouldn’t be very loud but they start early an workmen we’re shouting over

Told park was open for children but was always closed off and was too old for out littlest one who wanted to use but couldn’t.

Sams diner isn’t on site as was told it was.

Even our neighbours were horrendous so not a pleasant stay.

From the manager...

We apologise you did not enjoy your experience at Par Camping. In response to your various points, we have now adjusted our facilities and have a clean toilet block open 24/7 as an alternative option to the portable toilets. We are a little confused about your shower issue as all of our guests are reporting a warm shower experience, after of course giving the water a brief period to warm up. We do try and keep the grass in as good as a condition as possible, however when we are at near capacity we do not wish to cause disturbance to our guests and we of course cannot cut the grass on occupied pitches. We are aware there was one night recently where someone was driving inappropriately in the local area. The cars license plate has been recorded and has been given to the police to action. Unfortunately, this was of course totally out of our control. The tree felling works will be completed very soon. The children's play centre next door, Kidzworld, is a completely separate business to our campsite and we do not have any say in their opening hours. These would need to be checked via. their website. We can report however that Sam's Diner is open and trading. It is located next to the Food Hall just a short walk from the campsite. We do take on board all feedback we receive as our customers stay is very important to us and aside from things outside of our control, we are always working hard to improve our guests experience. Many thanks, Par Camping.

    Disliked:

Noisy, not very secure. We did suffer with poor weather and gale force winds. Toilet facilities on site were vile but the Par market ones close by were very good and clean. The site is just a bit bland. A field next to a car park which could have been anywhere in England. We were designated a pitch next to exit and didn’t feel very safe with the children. Also noisy on main road and a motorbike training centre in the car park that started early in the morning. (Not mentioned on website).

From the manager...

We apologise you had a bad experience on our campsite. We have now adjusted our facilities and have a proper and clean toilet block open 24/7 as an alternative option to the portable toilets.
