What customers say

A truly special, tranquil spot in lovely woods, with wonderfully friendly, helpful owners. Cosy hobbit holes with private facilities. Great for nature, wildlife spotting & visiting local sights. Mostly clean & kitted out, though some showers needed TLC & a few bits were basic. Bigger vehicles might find getting in tricky.

Primrose bell tent (five person)

Liked The very first thing I need to mention is how lovely the owners of this glamping site are and how dedicated and passionate they are to make this the best experience. From the start, we received a warm welcome and were given all of the information that we would need. It was also a very short walk from the car park to the bell tent, so easy to unpack that we didn't even need to use the wheelbarrows that were on offer. If we had been at one of the other pitches though, then they would have definitely come in useful.

The bell tent had everything that was mentioned on the site, with gas available for purchase to use in the camping stoves that were provided; there was also a whole box of cooking equipment like pans, utensils, camping kettle, cutlery, dustpan and brush, washing up liquid, etc... those small touches make all the difference! The sleeping mats that were provided were comfy and the overall feel of the bell tent was homely! It made a huge difference having access to a fridge/freezer while staying at the campsite, providing further ease.

We also enjoyed use of the communal fire pits, using the log and kindling bags that were also available to purchase from the site. We finished our stay with a breakfast from the Hive cafe, perfect after packing up on the Friday morning, and we also made sure to checkout some of the amazing pieces that were for sale as a little souvenir of our time.

I would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much to the owners!

Hobbit Hut cabin

Liked Beautiful natural location, clearly the owners are passionate about nature and this really shine through on the design of the huts and layout of the site in general. Loved the treasure hunt with the map and clues and forced us to explore the whole site and really appreciate it. Our own toilet and shower provided was brilliant with little personal touches it really brought the whole experience together. We unfortunately missed the mermaid show on the Friday because our eldest fell ill but I'm sure it would have been magical for the little ones to see. Next time.

Disliked Dust pan and brush would have been good to have in the hut itself. The bean bag beds were not the comfiest and we had to shake out the mattresses from the fold out bed a few times in order to get them flat as there was a night or two where we had some back issues the next morning from lumps in the mattress.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch (large)

Liked great place, quite, beautiful woodland, small site, plenty of toilet/shower, friendly owners, great kids event.

Disliked a lot of laminated signs instead of solutions. the freeze was on its last legs and barely refroze freezer blocks. and 1x electrical socket as a phone charging point for the whole site!

The Snook cabin

Liked I travelled from Birmingham, to celebrate a friend's 40th Birthday. I am very much a city boy, so am not used to rural life. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

Whilst I am not a vegetarian or a vegan (they do not serve meat), I can honestly say the food was excellent. Also, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I suffer from pretty bad OCD, and the lady serving the food took note of all my specifications without complaint.

The site itself was within a beautiful area in nature, and the facilities were all clean and functional.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Acorn Camping and Glamping!

Local attractions

Cornwall has hundreds of miles’ worth of walking and cycling trails, but a fine place to start is on the Saints Way, five minutes’ walk from Acorn – it’s a belter of a trip, even if you only do a few of its 27 miles (ideally those that deliver you to the Eden Project). Take to two wheels to cover local cycle trails such as the Camel Trail from Padstow or the gentler trip from the site to Luxulyan village; from here you can take the trains that run from Par to Newquay. Five minutes in the car brings you to Cornwall’s south coast – the nearest beach is three miles away but you might also like to go dolphin and seal spotting from Mevagissey, or take the kids to one of the many family attractions around the coast like the Wingz Bird and Animal Sanctuary at Par. National Trust houses and gardens are plentiful in Cornwall too: Falmouth’s Trebah Gardens should be a hit for all ages, and one of the very-must-sees in Cornwall is St Austell’s Lost Gardens of Heligan.
