  • Petting corner on site with ponies
  • Easy access to Camel Creek Adventure Park
  • Pool, bar, games room and free hot showers
Ponies! Heaps of things will make your kids’ hearts sing on a stay at long-established and family-run Music Water Touring Park near Padstow in Cornwall, but you can bet that the petting corner on site to nuzzle the noses of snuggly ponies will be any small person’s first melodious stop. (You can then casually inform them – kids, not ponies – that Music Water is within trotting distance of Camel Creek Adventure Park, and we bet they’ll be singing all through the hol.) As befits a park with ponies on it, Music Water has a paddock layout for those to prefer to pitch up in a peaceful countryside setting. Kids can canter off to the play area and games room with pool tables, amusement machines and table tennis; for all sizes, the outdoor pool and family-friendly bar will keep the holiday harmonious. Amenities-wise, guests have access to two shower and toilet blocks with free hot water, a launderette, freezer pack service and an on-site post box (to send home jubilant postcards). Trotting off site, Music Water is a few miles from the coastal walks and sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast of north Cornwall, four miles from Padstow and the Camel Trail, and seven miles from Wadebridge. Newquay – and its zoo – is about eight miles away, and the famed Eden Project about half an hour’s drive. Buy barbecue bits and essentials at the shop a couple of miles away or at the Tesco in Padstow; diners out have stacks of choice from restaurants and pubs in Padstow, Wadebridge, Newquay and St Merryn.

Liked: The campsite was lovely and well kept with great views good size pitches

Disliked: is not a dislike but Toilet/ shower blocks could do with updating along with the washing up sinks and club house Also most of the park has been removed so now only a single slide and a balance beam

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: If we go there again, this time we'll bring a CD player for music since there is no signal to listen to the radio. The children's attractions and the bar will keep boredom at bay on rainy days. :) The restrooms were functioning, so everything was just as it should be.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Nice site Staff friendly Dog friendly everywhere Merrymore pub by the beach was fantastic value and delicious food also dog friendly and the beach was stunning Pool and old have been nice but a little too chilly for me !

Disliked: Toilets not clean often unflushed toilet roll all over the floor every time I went in, I’m not sure if they had a cleaning schedule but I don’t think they were cleaned at all in 5 days, I also think visitors should have been cleaner like who goes to use the toilets and doesn’t flush, large numbers of children were playing around often in toilets when it clearly says please supervise your children in toilets, it also rained a fair bit so very wet and muddy. Lastly the showers were not hot they were Luke warm at best

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Fantastic friendly campsite. Our pitch was nice and private, the facilities were clean and showers always available. Bar prices very fair, and a good games room for the kids. We will visit again!

Disliked: You could argue that the toilet/shower facilities are a bit dated, but they are sufficient for the price we paid.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely site maintained with grass cut regularly and nice flowers. The pitches were of a good size.

Disliked: Although the facilities toilets/ showers were clean they are extremely dated which would put me off staying again. The showers were press button which stopped on for only a few seconds and the water was never warm enough. There were no vanity places in the toilets with mirrors and sockets to use your own hair dryer. There was a dated one mounted on the wall which needed a token, very small which I presume would not be very powerful at all. I don’t know how long it ran for with one token as I didn’t feel it safe to use. The swimming pool water was clean and it was checked each day but around the top of it on the tiles was green algae. The paving around it was also black and needed not only jet washing but replacing as it was very rough and would cause injury if a child fell on it. The games room smelt of dog and was too crammed, it would be better with some nice seating and less game tables to make it a nice meeting area for children. The children could play football on the grass outside the reception (only space) but got told off and that their ball would be confiscated if it kept going on the balcony. They moved the goal posts to stop this but it then meant they were running onto the road by entrance of the site, and the ball was more likely to hit cars in the parking spaces!!!

Local attractions

Beach or theme park? Theme park or beach? Surfing or sailing or fishing or horse riding or golf – or coastal hikes and countryside bikes? If you want to stick close to base, all are available within 10 miles at the most from Music Water Touring Park, with other attractions and towns like Portreath, St Ives and Tintagel also exceedingly reachable on the north coast. The Camel Creek Adventure Park jut outside Wadebridge will probably be the first stop for those on holiday with small adventurers to soar on the rides and peer at the meerkats. Also at Wadebridge, the St Eval Kart Circuit is the biggest kids' circuit in the UK and is suitable for ages three to 16 (adults can roar along the track on their own circuit too). Newquay Zoo and its Blue Reef Aquarium are other popular stops on the ‘kids in Cornwall’ trail, and just outside Newquay farm-mad offspring will milk the day for all it’s worth around the huge indoor play centre, adventure park, critters and maze of award-winning DairyLand Farm World.
