Always on the lookout for a quiet corner of Cornwall in which to lay your head? One that’s close to beaches, theme parks and woodland walks as well? Peaceful Gunwalloe Caravan Park may suit you very well, set as it is on a working arable farm less than 10 minutes’ drive from Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach, Flambards Theme Park and forest trails at National Trust-owned Penrose. With easy access to tree-sheltered grass pitches along hardstanding tracks, this is a no-frills site, owned and run by a family for families. Pets are welcome to tag along too, and there’s plenty of dog walking to be had along forested trails and shingle banks around The Loe freshwater lake and Carminowe Creek (10 minutes’ drive). Head to Gunwalloe village for a night out in the well-known Halzephron Inn (five minutes’ drive or half an hour’s walk), or try out waterfront pubs and takeaways around the fishing harbour in Porthleven (15 minutes’ drive). If you’re running short on provisions, historic Helston (10 minutes) has supermarkets for stocking up as well as pasty shops, pizzerias and burger bars if you’d like to give cooking a miss.

Liked The campsite was of a reasonable standard and the location good.

Disliked This campsite was over-priced and did not offer value for money compared with other campsites locally. The grassed area we were assigned to was rather rough and had rubble mixed in with the grass layer. The hard standing pitches were made of hardcore and were rough to walk over. The water pressure around the site was low.

Liked Fantastic camping site, easy to book online. Was easy to find and we had a very warm welcome on arrival. The pitches were well spaced out so didn't feel crowded at all. Dog friendly with a nice field to exercise the dogs!
The facilities were excellent, very nice and clean shower/toilet blocks and a great washing up area sheltered with fridge/freezer space available. Small on site shop/reception which had all the basics you may need and Fantastic coffee too!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back!

Liked On arrival we was shown to pitch which was a nice touch, pitches are very spacious, we had pitch 3 that had a tap very nearby which was very handy. Very quiet site which is what we always hope for when away.

Liked Wonderful campsite with very pleasant owners who want your stay to be enjoyable. Facilities were clean and very adequate. Putch was level. Reception with handy shop within including option of buying proper cups of coffee and freshly baked items.
Highly recommend this camping site. We stayed for 5 nights.

Liked Fantastic staff, lovely pitches, great location, superb toilet and shower block that’s not too far from all pitches. Just a really lovely little site and we usually don’t return to a campsite we have been too, not because we don’t like them but because we love the excitement of a new site but we will be returning to this little Jem of a site

Liked It was the perfect site for us as camping in a large tent .. loads of space on our pitch .
Claire was lovely and very kind to us loaning us an extra extension for our hook up.
Site was small , good clean basic amenities not many people just as we like it.
We don't deal with large groups or loud entertainment so this site allowed us a comfortable ,clean getaway and total relaxation
So pleased to be able to use our bbq / firepit.

We are booking to go back in September.

When you fancy a serious yomp along the dramatic coastline, follow the South West Coast Path (10 minutes’ drive) to Kynance Cove (around three hours’ walk) on the Lizard Peninsula. Shorter hops include a shoreline walk to Porthleven (90 minutes), and strolls around the headland at Poldhu Cove (20 minutes). Walk or boat across to the ancient St Michael's Mount (half an hour) to look out for the giant's heart stone. The kids may well pester you until they get to spend the day at Flambards Theme Park (10 minutes’ drive), with its abundance of thrill rides (see if they’re brave enough to face the Hornet roller coaster). If it’s animals that float the family boat, consider a visit to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (10 minutes) to join sea lion feeding sessions and watch seals and puffins in their watery enclosures. History lovers might care to head for the harbourside National Maritime Museum Cornwall (35 minutes) in Falmouth to tour historic steamboats and let the kids loose on interactive, pirate-themed exhibits. When the weather is warm and you’d prefer to be outdoors, have a wander through the subtropical plantings and water features at dog-friendly Trebah Garden (half an hour).
