  • Quiet dog-friendly site with views of the coast and the Valency Valley
  • A 10-minute drive from Boscastle and 20 minutes from Tintagel Castle
  • Amenities like a farm shop, bakery, pubs and shops in Boscastle
Overlooking the wildlife-packed Valency Valley, Tophill Campsite isn’t exactly short on scenery. This peaceful site has some fine Cornish landscapes spread out in front of it, and there’s plenty more like that within a short drive of the site too. Boscastle, a historic fishing village, is 10 minutes’ drive away and further out is an assortment of sandy surfing beaches, family-friendly bays and more fishing villages. With good toilet and shower facilities, it’s nice and easy to freshen up before your big day out. You may want to visit the unique Museum of Witchcraft and Magic in Boscastle, which has occult art and displays about the history of British magic. Or perhaps Tintagel Castle, 20 minutes’ drive away, might tempt? The historic clifftop castle, footbridge and Merlin’s cave make for an excellent (and historical) outing. With dogs and families welcome at Tophill Campsite, you won’t have to leave anyone behind. Grab the group’s favourite snack or barbecue foods from Boscastle, where there’s a farm shop and café, a bakery, shops and pubs. Barbecues and firepits are both permitted on site.

Disliked: A bit exposed

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Site was lovely, huge field and we were the only campers for 3 of 5 nights. The shower, toilet, washing up area was really nice and clean. The owners were so friendly and are working hard to improve the facilities still further (one shower and 2 toilets, but as site wasn’t busy this was not an issue). Much of the site would give you a level pitch and the views are amazing. We had a great stay and would definitely return. Farm shop not far away and easy to get to everywhere we wanted to. We did Eden Project and Newquay which were both about an hour away. Would absolutely recommend.

Disliked: Slightly hard to find but that could just be me! Owners were so helpful with directions so do call if you can’t find it. I think they’ll have signs soon.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Friendliness of the owners. The facilities were very clean. A small basic campsite in a big green field with an incredible view of the sea. Because of no light pollution, the night sky was incredible too.

Disliked: Having to leave

Disliked: Limited shower and toilet facilities meant we often had to wait up to 15 mins, but I understand they are building more soon.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Spectacular views over the hills and sunsets over the ocean. Brand new (incomplete) facilities, quiet location, very friendly, relaxed and helpful owners.

Disliked: Lack of signage. Both Apple maps and Google directions take you to the wrong location and there is no signage at all to the campsite. Very hard to find. Couple of picket signs would go a long way! Do call the owner who is very helpful but I hope they arrange signage soon as really it is very easy once you know where it is! Appreciate it’s a new site but there aren’t yet enough facilities - one shower and two toilets for the site. Could only see 4 groups staying but that is still a lot of people all waiting their turn at times…
