Escape with a break to Ruthern Valley Holidays… At this friendly site in a tree-filled valley near Bodmin Moor, the emphasis is on making the most of the natural surroundings – think birds and rabbits rather than bingo nights, and a gently meandering stream instead of the boom of a disco bar. The site is carefully laid out to offer visitors the maximum space and seclusion possible. Kids will have a blast roaming around the woods building dens and wildlife spotting, chatting to the resident chickens and pigs, and bouncing around the leafy playground area. Ruthern Valley Holidays also has a licensed shop selling bangers, other local goodies and some essential camping gear. Other amenities include solar-heated showers, toilets, a laundry and washing-up facilities.

  • Guests must bring their own duvets, pillows, sheets and towels when staying in rental accommodation. You will not be allowed to stay if you do not bring these items.
  • Minimum spacing of 3 metres between pitches.
  • This is a quiet site: no music is allowed.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
  • Bookings must not consist of more than 2 different households.
  • No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
  • Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
  • No electric barbecues allowed.

Peaceful woodland site, spotless and with grand showers. Great for the Camel Trail, with bikes on site. Friendly owners and a good shop. Bit tight on the roads for some. A few bits could do with a spruce up.

Liked Good Internet, clean, fridge, microwave and great showers. Great help and directions and help from owner at reception. And own parking place.

Disliked There was a kettle and microwave and fridge, we had no mugs or cups, no plates. It would have be nicer to of been able to make a cuppa would have made all the difference.

Liked Wonderful place to stay so quiet & tranquil our pitch was just perfect for us.
Showers lovely and hot and all facilities clean & tidy. So close to the camel trail which we did each day from one end to the other was wonderful on our bikes. Will definitely stay again in the future. Very lady to great us and show us on the map our pitch.

Disliked Nothing to dislike at all we had a fabulous stay wished it was for longer 😃

Liked The woodland, very clean amenities.

Disliked Not being directed well regarding layout of pitch, spent a good half an hour trying to negotiate how we were supposed to pitch without blocking access had to go back and ask again. Another campervan arrived in the evening and was rude to us about the access when it was the layout of the grounds that was the issue, not us.

Liked Everything, the little cabin was cosy, the grounds was clean and the grass was well cut. Andrew and his wife have been amazing considering I was not the best guest.

The shop is very elegant, had everything I needed and it will have everything you need!

The price was great value, really good value to be honest. Andrew and his wife are very kind and helpful and very patient.

If your looking to stay there and your reading this please respect them and the cabins.

The WiFi is outstanding, fast enough for my laptop

Disliked I had to leave for a person emergency and I didn't want to as it was quite place to stay. I left the place in a total mess

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely peaceful site with secluded pitches. Good hot showers.
Close to the Camel Trail. We hired bikes from the site.

Disliked Hard standing pitches are in almost total shade (I’m sure we would be grateful for that in the middle of summer but it was a bit chilly in May). As there were no tents on the camping field in front of our pitch we took our chairs out onto the grass in the sun.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked The pitch was large enough on gravel for the van and has a bit of green attached to the side. The location was ideal for the Camel trail equidistant for riding either way.
Toilets were clean and showers were hot.

Cornwall’s countless charms are all within your grasp: moors and tors; fab beaches (both the northern and southern coasts are within 10 miles, and the surfing mecca of Newquay is just a few miles further), the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, traditional castles and mansions like Tintagel and Llanhydrock House, zoos and wildlife centres, theme parks, museums… If you want to ride the waves, book your place at the surf school on Polzeath beach for some assistance in getting out onto the water. Sea kayaking, kitesurfing and horse riding are also available nearby. Cycling deserves a special mention: five minutes on two wheels brings you to the Camel Trail, 16 miles of converted railway track that makes for an great ride through the Camel valley, and links to the Cornish Way for trips further into Cornwall. Bikes can be hired at cycle centres nearby including at Wadebridge, Bodmin and Padstow. Slake your pedal-induced thirst enroute with wine tasting at the renowned Camel Valley Vineyard, or take a bottle away to wash down some fish and chips from the Rick Stein takeaway in Padstow. This pretty fishing village a short ride away is a fully-fledged foodie destination, with several acclaimed restaurants and takeaways.
