  • Family-friendly glamping on a farm next to Surrey Hills; dogs welcome
  • In the National Trust's Hatchlands Park, with complimentary access
  • Gastropubs, restaurants and food shop within walking distance
Looking to recharge near the Surrey Hills? Hammonds Glamping is just the place, with activities such as cycling, horse riding or hiking easily accessible in the local commons, slopes and market towns. One mile from an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this dog-friendly glamping site is a grassy wildlife haven just 15 minutes’ drive from Guildford’s canals, medieval castle and independent shops. Show up, lay down your bits and bobs and crack on with plotting out your plan of action (there’s lots of 4G internet access for that). With plenty of space to stroll around the site and its surrounding woodlands, you might want to warm up with a gentle stroll. Then, freshen up in the site's amenities block before any bigger days out. After that, a visit to the National Trust country house and 400-acre gardens at Hatchlands Park (located in the same grounds as the site) is a must. Handily, Hammonds Glamping guests get complimentary entry for the duration of their stay (what a lovely little bonus…). Foodies will also be pleased that there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance of the site, including a café and a gastropub with a beer garden and toasty log fire 10 minutes’ walk away. There are several more places (including a Thai-inspired gastropub and an Indian restaurant) within 35 minutes’ walk of the site and a small shop 15 minutes’ walk away for those wanting to do a small food shop. Please note this is a quiet site that doesn't accept stag or hen parties. For extra peace of mind, a member of staff is on call here at all times.

Bell tent (deluxe, large, six person)

Liked: The coffee cart was a nice bonus! Nice staff, around to help if any issues. Clean showers / toilets. Provided fire pit came in handy.

Disliked: Some pitches are quite a far walk from the toilets, but didn’t bother me that much.

Bell tent (basic, value)

Liked: Tents are tents but the setting, the set up and the sunset made for a perfect evening (followed by some extra soporific rainfall). On site support was wonderful from check in to coffee early the next morning. We made a fire and cooked marshmallows whilst the kids ‘drove’ the bus. The kids had a ball with lots of space to run around and nature to explore. Will be returning as soon as possible.

Disliked: Directions to the camp site aren’t intuitive. That’s it…

Bell tent (deluxe, small, four person)

Liked: Location is great for getting about Legoland near and chessington Walks all around and hatchley house to visit Friendly and helpful owners Girls that looked after us were amazing , so happy to help and friendly Tents are spaced out really well Practically private Great for dog owners Space for kids to safely play and run endlessly Fire pits provided with logs on site available

Disliked: Shower /toilets needs updating for a glamping site and possibly an extra one at the back Quite a trek in the night from the farthest tents Does get very cold at night need to take very warm clothes for bedtime Freezer packs provided were slow to replenish so couldn’t really get fresh milk and butter etc .. small tents are quite small Quite pricey for glamping as facilities are a bit run down , like the kids games and park area is young There as a train track right near so that’s noticeable ! Didn’t bother me though Lots of aeroplanes as flight path still that didn’t bother me either Lots of trips needed from Car park to the tent , big field

Bell tent (deluxe, large, six person)

Liked: Staff friendly. Lots of space in and out of tent. Football and table tennis for kids. Shower facilities good.

Disliked: Upon arrival our booking was not on paperwork so they put us in another tent which was fine but I did book and pay for a six sleeper and ended up with a four sleeper, didn’t get offered a refund for difference. The battery’s in light provided in tent had run out, when asked for new battery’s simply told they had none. (Luckily I had some with me) Diffusers in and around park we’re all empty. Candles provided in picnic table were empty. Toilet room not cleaned while we were there. Unfortunately very busy train line right next to site.
