Rebel Farmer Tipi is a splendid 21-foot tipi that sits in its own acre of meadow next door to a market garden that specialises in eco-friendly permaculture practices. There’s just the one tipi on site, so you’ll have all that space to yourself, although you’ll spot animals around the place and see the farmer and his team tending the veg plot.
This is a fab location for getting out and about in the Kent countryside: it’s just on the edge of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to the North Downs Way and Pilgrims Way for walkers and with National Cycle Route 18 running through the village of Wye, a couple of miles away. Getting there’s pretty easy too: Ashford and the M20 are 10 minutes’ drive away, and there’s also a station in Wye for car-free travels.
Wye’s also the closest place for shops and amenities, and it’s also home to a couple of excellent pubs for local pints and eating out. Eating in’s equally enticing though – you’ll be provided with a barbecue for alfresco cooking and there’s a fridge, kettle and electric hob in a nearby outbuilding to help with prep.
You may face a similar going-out/staying-in dilemma with your tipi too – it’s a fine setup in the traditional Sioux style and furnished with lots of cosy touches including coir matting, rugs, blankets and warm bedding to snuggle up into. A basic shower and compost toilet are close by and there’s plenty of space around for a campfire should you fancy an evening of stargazing (and really you should…)
