  • Dog-friendly site in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house
  • In the New Forest National Park, 15 minutes’ drive from beaches
  • Farm shops, pubs, cafés and train station within walking distance
You’ll be all set for a royally relaxing stay at Camping at the Manor in the New Forest National Park. Here, you’ll be dwelling in the grounds of an Edwardian country manor house where there are often wild deer to be seen roaming the grounds and occasionally the mad owner on his lawnmower ensuring that the pitches stay nicely trimmed. You’ll have plenty of space to make into your little hidey-hole, as the pitches are spread between three large fields, surrounded by mature trees and planting for extra privacy. They’re level-grounded too, so it shouldn’t be too tricky to set up your tent and you’ll have access to a composting toilet, a shower and a washing-up area. There’s a real treat in store when it comes to the world of food around this area, as New Milton (five minutes’ drive) lives up to its description as a market town. As well as regular shops, there are farm shops for local goodies and pubs, restaurants and cafés. Closer by, Ashley (35 minutes’ walk) has a small shop too. Of course, there are all the popular pubs and eateries around Sway, Milford on Sea, Hordle and New Forest too – many within a short drive of the site. Just let the site know if they can arrange any bookings on your behalf. Those of you planning on leaving the car behind won’t need to miss out, as local buses will take you to Bournemouth or Lymington and the train station in New Milton is just 40 minutes’ walk away.

Liked: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! The little area with the site shop had a little fire benches and music which was a really nice area in contrast to the quiet and peaceful spots to pitch up in. Also had a lovely member of staff inform us they were cooking homemade pizzas at a certain time which was delicious! I took my 5 year old boy and he absolutely loved every second from interacting with the stay to playing football on the open spaces to sitting around our firepit by the tent. Would definitely come again and highly recommend :) also had help from the staff when my car wouldnt start in the morning!

Liked: Excellent location (only about ten minutes' drive to the coast). Nice and quiet at night. Flat pitches. The site is spread out over three fields, which stops it feeling too big. Great little shop on site - so nice to have the option to buy coffee and breakfast, and pizzas in the evening!

Liked: Wow, what can I say about this amazing Campsite? Yes it’s only a pop-up so it’s not used all year but it is fantastic. With such lovely welcoming Team. We were lucky to be staying here last two nights of the season. The campsite Consist of three lovely size fields or flat and you can choose where you set up. Pitch sizes Are drawn out and a lovely size. Yes Composting toilet can be an issue for some people but not us and these are amazing and keep extremely clean at all times. We really enjoyed both the breakfasts (bacon rolls and omelettes) and the pizza they cook on site. (Stumpy) The owner takes it upon himself to walk around the site several times throughout the day to ensure everybody is happy as well as busy working insuring cleanliness and tidiness of the site. We started enjoyed having a fire pit each evening sitting out under the stars. It was beautiful and our little one loved playing with all the other children camping near us. This really is a gem of a Campsite and we will definitely be back. Thank you from us and Maddi Moo 🐮

Disliked: Having to leave 😢

Liked: Where do I begin a returned camper back to this beautiful place owned by one guy (stumpy) who seems to be an octopus in disguise if he’s not checking in customers as they arrive, he’s cleaning and making sure his camp is tidy or walking around and personally checking in on every single camper with friendly conversation and banter. I cannot fault this campsite at all and it really is our favourite campsite. What people need to understand before they criticise the site is that this is environmentally friendly and that this campsite is owned by one man and if you ask questions about the campsite he will tell you that he created this beautiful site himself and how he did it and with ongoing updates and plans I only look forward to seeing what next year brings. My two children absolutely adore stumpy and upon leaving it’s a must that we find him and personally say goodbye you are not going to find a friendly campsite such as this!

Disliked: Leaving as always and petty people leaving negative reviews about someone’s hard work and creativity my advice to them people go see if you can do better because I assure you that you can’t!

Liked: I loved this campsite because it is small and the people who run it are friendly and approachable. The facilities all work fine, the field is very even short grass, so pitching is easy, the showers are hot, the fire pit at reception is a great meeting point to have a chat with strangers. We'd love to come back next year.

Local attractions

Beach day, anyone? There are plenty of options for your daily dose of sand and sea. Milford on Sea beach (10 minutes’ drive) has very easy access in the high season. You might want to practise your bodyboarding at Highcliffe beach (15 minutes), paddle at Mudeford beach (15 minutes) or indulge in watersports at Avon beach (15 minutes). Other places for a dip (or a snooze and some sandcastle building if you’re feeling like a lazier day) are Sandbanks beach (45 minutes) and Boscombe beach (half an hour). Bournemouth (35 minutes) has plenty of seaside entertainment too, as well as an aquarium with a penguin enclosure. As for the quirky stuff, the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum (five minutes) has a collection of restored motorcycles, including factory racers and exotic prototypes. Arty types might want to visit the Forest Arts Centre (five minutes) too. Put some peaceful walks in your plans too… there’s plenty to explore around the 24-acre Steamer Point Nature Reserve (15 minutes). It’s close to Highcliffe Castle (15 minutes), a grand Grade I-listed mansion that will add in some history.
