  • Dog-friendly site surrounded by countryside five miles from Winchester
  • A 15-minute drive to Mottisfont and 35 minutes from Stonehenge
  • Playground, games field and dog exercise area; firepit hire, logs sold
This is a peaceful campsite that welcomes families and dogs to its level and well-kept pitches, which are sheltered by mature trees and hedgerows. With facilities including hot showers and flushing toilets – plus a playground, games field, dog exercise field and footpath to a local country park – Folly Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a tiptop place to stay in the gorgeous Hampshire countryside. How to unwind here? Well, there are plenty of spots around the site to let your hair down (thanks to its peaceful and level grassy pitches, play areas, wifi, free showers and walks in the surrounding woodlands) but you’ll have your choice of many a day out from here too. Perhaps a venture into the South Downs National Park (10 minutes’ drive)? Into the vibrant city of Winchester (15 minutes) for its historic sites, such as the medieval cathedral, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the working 18th-century corn mill, Jane Austen’s house or the castle’s medieval round table, once sat at by King Arthur? From Winchester, there’s a short stroll along the water meadows of the river Itchen down to England’s oldest medieval almshouse and The Hospital of St Cross or the 25-minute ascent to St Catherine’s Hill for views of the city, a dramatic chalk hill and an Iron Age hillfort. As for ventures from the site, you might want to set your next target as one of three local pubs serving home-cooked food in the villages of Sparsholt, Littleton or Crawley (this one’s 25 minutes’ walk away).

What customers say

Grand site, all tidy and grand. Pitches are plenty big and flat. Showers and loos are deadly. Kids and dogs have their own spots. Grand for seeing the country and Winchester. A grand, chilled atmosphere, and the staff are sound. A few said some bits are a bit old or noisy, but not usually a bother.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Clean tidy site , super friendly wardens and owner , brand new showers and loos and plenty of them

Disliked Not an issue for us but was a bit of a trek to the facilities, although it was pretty level so you could bike to them or wheelchair easily
The only thing I really HATED was the amount of fire pits in use the smoke was horrendous coming in our camper by the time we realised how bad it was it was too late

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Absolutely fabulous site, beautiful setting and super friendly site. Facilities spotlessly clean and new! Children’s playground was fantastic and city of Winchester is stunning!
Local pub about a mile walk away, in Crawley, and is fantastic.
Can’t wait to come back -already planning a return trip!

Disliked Only small suggestion would be some small shelves over sinks and in the showers, to put products.

From the manager: Thank you for your fantastic review and your kind words, describing our campsite as exceptional and fabulous, that means a great deal to us! We're really pleased you found the new facilitates spotless and enjoyed the children's playground, the stunning city of Winchester and the mile walk to our fantastic local pub. It's wonderful to hear you're already planning your next stay with us!

Thank you for your suggestion about shelves in the showers and over the basins. Unfortunately this is quite challenging in a commercial environment as anything protruding can also cause a hazard. For example when bending over the basin to clean your teeth guests could bump their head on a shelf. If you have any ideas or photos of commercial solutions please send us an email as we're open to ideas and keen to make everything as comfortable as possible.

We look forward to welcoming back soon for your return visit.

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked My two dogs and I Loved It all. Everything was perfect, really enjoyed my five nights here. The site was clean and well managed. Facilities were lovely. Walked the footpath across the road to the woodland. Cycled through beautiful Crawley village to Aldi and Waitrose (long and hilly but manageable and very scenic). Other campers friendly. Staff friendly and helpful. Bus trip to Winchester and back was easy.

Local attractions

Get keyed up on the local history… with hillforts, National Trust properties and historic steam railways around, there are many jaunts to take you way back. Closest to the site, there's Danebury Iron Age Hillfort (10 minutes’ drive), Mottisfont’s (15 minutes) historical priory, garden and country estate (15 minutes) or Winchester’s (15 minutes) cathedral, castle, markets and fairs. Perhaps the most iconic of the lot, Stonehenge (35 minutes) is a short trip away. Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' (25 minutes) will take you on a ride along a 19th-century heritage steam train line, while the National Motor Museum (45 minutes) and the maritime museum at Buckler's Hard (55 minutes) are full to the brim with old artefacts. Once you’re done with country house tours – perhaps at Broadlands House (35 minutes) or the National Trust’s Georgian Hinton Ampner (25 minutes) – a festival might bring you firmly to the present again. The Boomtown Fair venue (20 minutes) and Carfest South venue (25 minutes) are both close by. But, how to finish off your stay? Maybe the 72-hectare arboretum at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (20 minutes), the birds of prey experiences at the Hawk Conservancy Trust (25 minutes), Marwell Zoo (half an hour), Salisbury Cathedral (half an hour) or the kid-friendly Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (half an hour)?
