  • Peaceful rural site a mile and a half from the village of Witham
  • Five fishing lakes with 100+ pegs and carp up to 22lb
  • Tackle shop; licensed bar-restaurant on site open on select days/times
To Essex! And to angling followed by peaceful eves by the lake… take your tackle to Colemans Cottage Fishery to get hooked on these green and serene surrounds. There are five fishing lakes on this lush Essex site, home of over 100 pegs and stuffed with specimens of roach, bream, barbel, rudd and carp of up to 22lb. Fishing is via day tickets bought from the Colemans Cottage tackle shop, where you can also top up your kit, buy bait, or swap tales of whoppers and fishing tips with the expert staff. And if you're not a fishing sort? Also sorted: Colemans is a mile and a half from the village of Witham, from which you can reach Colchester in 15 minutes' drive in one direction and Chelmsford in 25 minutes in the other for days of shopping and sightseeing. Maldon and Mersea Island are within easy reach too, as is Southend for days at the Essex coast. Whatever your plans for the day, there's a warm welcome at the site's Waterside licensed bar and restaurant (open Thursday through until Sunday for breakfast and brunch). The menu offers up full breakfasts, homemade brunches, desserts and seasonal dishes, along with drinks to raise a glass to the catch of the day.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Friendly owners who were kind enough to lend us a hook up cable. Lovely fishing lakes just a shame you don’t get a view of them from the actual pitch. Obviously a great site if you like fishing

Disliked: Noise from the A12 so didn’t sleep Then more noise from 6.30am onwards as people arrived to fish so it felt like we were in a car park.

Kingfisher camping pod

Liked: Really comfy and well equipped pod. Microwave, toaster and fridge and good shower. Outside plenty of seating and lounger for each pod to chill and BBQ also provided. Cosy and clean Different pods do have different amenities eg one with hot tub and one with outside bath. Check with owners Very peaceful location within easy each of amenities such as pubs and shops if needed but also lovely quiet countryside to relax Very friendly and helpful staff couldn’t do enough for you to make your stay a lovely one. Lovely cafe on site with excellent food Cannot wait to return

Disliked: Day fishing pass could be included if staying in pod rather than extra cost

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: We choose this place for our first motorhome adventure. So we could try out our tent awning and make sure everything was ok with our motorhome. Quiet little hook up spot. My husband wants to return so that he can go fishing.

Disliked: The A12 traffic.
