What customers say
A great spot for a chill break with lovely woodland/meadow pitches and friendly hosts. Handy for Hastings & coast. Friday night pizzas are a winner. Toilets/showers are clean. A few mention noise, pitch-to-car access and cost.

A great csmpsite
Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked We had a great three-day camping trip to the Pop Up Campsite at Hop and Hare Farm near Hastings in East Sussex. Jules was a great host, and always helpful when needed. Definitely recommend and plan to return!

The kind of site you want to shout about but also keep secret :)
Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Everything! This campsite is our family's idea of heaven. So much space (we camped in the meadow), no cars to dodge, beautiful setting. Feels especially rare that it remains peaceful even when fairly full because of the size of pitches and people respecting the no electric music rule. The kids could go off to play and explore endlessly and were made to feel so welcome by the owners. Friday evenings pizzas were delicious and the way everything was laid/thought out was so clever, in keeping with the overall semi-wild vibe. Some how even the outdoor loos felt (and smelled!) clean. We will be returning.
Disliked Nit picking but the sink nearest us was a bit the worse for wear.

Kind, friendly and accommodating owners who have made a peaceful haven
Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Such a beautiful and peaceful haven in both the meadows and the woods. We arrived to such a warm welcome and were spontaneously delivered vegetables from their patch which was such a sweet touch. Also being offered fire-pits at every pitch is a great idea. All these little details really make a huge difference to the experience; including leaving the cars in the carpark and being very eco-conscious with waste and recycling, plus keeping the site quiet and calm.
Kids have so much freedom to run around safely, and felt we had such a warm welcome by lovely people. Thank you! We'll be back next year!
Disliked Not a 'dislike' at all but I wonder if there could have been a small bar / shop where you could sell a few essentials for campers.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Lovely campsite: friendly owners - very warm, welcoming and helpful. Pizzas on Friday night were great - delicious and reasonably priced. Really nice surroundings - nice to have the option of camping in the meadow or the woods (both lovely).
Disliked Not really a dislike as such but just a heads up that cars can't be parked at pitches, and some of the pitches are a fair distance when travelling with a lot of camping stuff. There are very large wheelbarrows though and a bell hop service (for an extra fee). Wasn't too much of a problem for us, and was nice to be in green space without cars...but may be an issue for those not as up for walking their gear to their pitches.

Liked Spacious pitches, friendly warden and relaxed atmosphere. Great location, moments from Hastings and the beach.
Disliked Some of the children in large family groups were very loud, this detracted from our stay a little.

Avoid all pop-up camp sites
Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Friendly people - that's about it!
Disliked The toilets are compost loos (think festival toilet that's actually a hole in the ground) - yikes!
The trek from the car to the pitches is up hill. That doesn't sound a big deal but when you're carrying a weekends worth of camping gear, that's hard work.
There are no washing facilities. This resulted in me getting food poisoning from being unable to wash my hands after prepping food.
There are very few flat areas so pitching up means you're on some kind of slope.
The cost of WAY over priced for what it is.

From the manager: Lee we are pretty shocked by your review. Compost toilets are not for everyone, which is why you have options for different toilets in your field. Every toilet has hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray, and is next to a water point that also provides soap. Your food poisoning will not be a result of a lack of facilities. You and the other dads had an amazing pitches altogether, and when i came around cleaning the toilets , and asked if you were all ok you didn't speak up about the facilities?.
You had to walk 200 meters from the car park to your pitch we provide wheelbarrows and a Bell hop service that helps you with heavy items for a fee. Your tents were not on a slope you had lots of space and privacy, but, from what we've read, we are not the campsite for you.
