  • Family-sized bell tents at a peaceful Lancashire pop-up glamping site
  • Southport and Formby beaches half an hour's drive away
  • Firepit, woodburning stove and kitchenette for each tent
Get yourselves a lovely slice of rural Lancashire life at Puddleduck Glamping, a pop-up glamping site in the little village of Much Hoole, around 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Preston. There are only a few bell tents set up at this sizeable site, so you should have plenty of space in which to relax, or let the kids and dogs have a good run around. There are pretty countryside views all around, and easy access to footpaths nearby for walks to local villages. Also within a few minutes’ walk are a farm shop, a fishery and a pump cycle track, so that’s several handy things you won’t need to get in the car for. The farm shop (again, just a short walk away) is a useful place for supplies – either for your kitchenette (which has a gas hob, kettle, toaster and various utensils) or for an evening by the firepit out in your private area. If you’d like to expand your cooking adventures, you’ll have the option to hire a pizza oven for your stay too (and if you’d rather someone else did the cooking, there are several cafés and restaurants five minutes’ drive away in Longton). The bell tents at this site are family-friendly, sleeping up to two adults and three kids in a double bed and three optional single camp beds (bed linen provided for the double bed, but you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bags/duvets, etc, for the camp beds). There’s also a woodburning stove in each tent, with kindling and logs for this and the firepit available to buy on site. High-quality toilets and showers are in a shared facility close to your tent.

Top marks for cleanliness, lovely tents and spotless facilities, including modern loos and handy kitchenettes. Hosts James and family are brilliant. Peaceful and private, great for families who enjoyed the animals and play spots. Just remember midge spray! Most want to come back.

Liked What a great place to go glamping! The hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The site was well equipped and had everything we needed. The place was clean and well presented and the kids had an amazing time. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

We were greeted warmly and we were given instructions on setting up. Anything we forgot to bring was already there. So if you're not usually a camping person this is the place for you. The kids were invited to use a bouncy castle that was set up. We couldn't have had a nicer time. I have already recommended to friends with young families.

Definitely bring some repellent for the horse flies, but even with that we will be back.

Liked What a lovely find! Beautiful site with great amenities. What made it extra special was the kind, thoughtful and friendly hosts (and lovely Jessy dog). The chickens are fab, the bell tents are beautiful and nothing is too much trouble.
We genuinely felt welcome. As long time campers - who haven’t been able to get out for some time - it was lovely to be back in a tent and we’ve created some special memories.
A highlight has to be watching the bats at dusk and the barn owl showing up shortly afterwards.
We’ve had a very special weekend and can’t wait to return.
Thank you James & co, it was exactly what we needed x

Bell tent (five person)

Liked The site was peaceful, private & had everything you could possibly need for glamping.
Everything was Immaculately clean. We stay at glamping sites alot & by far this one was the cleanest with the most beautiful bathroom also. I've already recommended to 2 family members & we'd definitely come back but for longer next time.

Disliked This has nothing at all to do with puddleduck glamping but wanted to let others know that if you are prone to being bitten then take a repellent spray with you. We had to go out & purchase jungle spray as my daughter & i was bitten by horseflys.

Liked We had such a lovely stay! Everything was absolutely spot on! The location is perfect – peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The site is super well-equipped with everything you could need, and the attention to detail really shows. The host was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the fresh eggs for breakfast were amazing! Can’t recommend it enough. A perfect little getaway. 😊

Liked We really enjoyed our trip at puddleduck.
James was a brilliant host, nothing was to much trouble.
We hired the pizza oven this was a brilliant touch, made some delicious pizzas & we was shown how to use it by James it was very straight forward
The site had everything you would need for a short stay, fully equipped kitchen area. Lovely clean bathroom/shower area.
The bell tents were spacious inside, we made a double style bed using 2 camp beds for our little one - little tip ( take a double sheet to keep it secure ) The double bed that we slept in was lovely and comfy.

We would come back in a heartbeat, lots to do for the children. perfect stay.

Thank You :)

Local attractions

If you’re keen to soak up as much rural fresh air as you can, perhaps you’d like to spend an afternoon by the lake at Martin Hall Fishery (10 minutes’ walk) or take a good stroll around Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve (five minutes’ drive). There’s lots of good wildlife to see at the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary (10 minutes), too. Or how about taking in a bit of sea air for a change? The beaches of Southport and Formby are both about half an hour’s drive away – head to the former for traditional seaside attractions and the latter to see if you can spot red squirrels in the coastal nature reserve. Beyond all that, there’s plenty more – maybe a stroll around the Tudor house and grounds of Rufford Old Hall (15 minutes), birdwatching at WWT Martin Mere (15 minutes), a gin tour at Brindle Distillery (25 minutes) or some time spent admiring the shiny exhibits of The British Commercial Vehicle Museum (20 minutes)?
