General

  • Cosy glamping pods at a peaceful site on a Cumbria working farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Carlisle and 20 minutes from Gretna Green
  • Well-equipped kitchenette and firepit; pub half a mile away

Cosy Cumbria glamping pods on a working farm – a promising start for anyone in search of a countryside break in this lovely corner of the world. But there’s more… because Hayton Hideaways is one of those locations that has heaps going for it.

Rural ramblers are particularly well served here: the farm is just outside the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the top end of the Lake District, with views out over the lakeland fells. Carlisle’s a 15-minute drive away for any urban wanders you may fancy, and beyond that is the Solway coast (about 40 minutes away).

On top of all that is easy access to/from the M6 a few minutes away, making this a good pick for those taking long journeys north or south (aside from the fact that you may not want to leave, of course…). Gretna Green and the Scottish border are about a 20-minute drive away.

And why might you not want to leave? That would be the stylish pods, each of which has a decked area, a picnic table and a firepit. Inside, all is smart and cosy, with a double bed, a sofa bed, a TV, an ensuite shower room and a well-equipped kitchenette area (to aid with the prep of snacks/drinks/breakfast with a view…)

Dogs and kids are welcome on site – for the latter there’s a lovely play park in the community field a couple of minutes’ walk away. And if your country break isn’t complete without a pint? There’s a pub half a mile away in the village of Hayton.

Please note

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Pets are not allowed on the beds or sofa.

Lovely spot, lovely hosts and lovely cabin.

Area is great, lots to do and see. Site itself is super quiet (apart from the sheep that thinks he's a dog and runs to say hiya everytime you leave the cabin/pod haha)

The hosts totally left us to it, no contact required but kept in touch via text in case we needed anything.

The cabin was amazing, best one we have stayed in. So nice to have the toilet and shower inside and not in a seperate block.

    Highly recccomend! :)

    Disliked:

Nothing to dislike at all, just a couple of notes to the owners to help :)

The pods are super new and there might bea couple things you didn't notice, Pod 4.

The shower spits from the wrong end of the pipe.
The toilet seat is a bit loose.
Some instructions for the heater would be helpful and it would have nice for it to have been on a little bit when we arrived.

Nothing major but thought you would want to know :)

    Thank you!

The pods are beautiful and have everything you need for a cosy stay. The owners are very helpful and the place it's self is really quiet which after the run up to Christmas working in retail was just what we wanted. Defiantly going to book again in the future, we didn't want to leave.

Loved everything! Me and my partner had a week off work starting on the 19/10. We wanted to get away from our busy lives & book a mini break somewhere out of the way to relax. We stumbled across Hayton Hideaways and booked it as soon as we saw it (& and are SO glad we did!) It did not dissapoint! It was just what we wanted, a beautiful pod in a beautiful quiet location. It was so peaceful! Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of towns but close enough to shops/ villages/town if you wanted to venture out. The pod had everything we needed. The decor inside was beautiful, cosy & warm. Outside was just as beautiful with views you could see for miles. Firepit included outside which was a lovely bonus to sit out next to on an evening! It was a completely contactless check in/out. The owners are absolutely lovely and hats off to them opening this new business during these tough times. We genuinely wish them all the best for the future! We will definitely reccomend to our friends and family & would love to come back again next year! We've been home 2 days and I already wish I was back there!! If anyone is wanting to escape the madness of their busy lives, all I would say is.. BOOK A STAY HERE! It is just perfect for relaxing and recharging the batteries. Thank you again for such a fabulous stay!
