A gem
Electric grass and gravel touring pitch
Liked Clean facilities. Communal lounge with wifi was great. For tenters that and the toasters, microwaves, kettles and a fridge must be a godsend and a place to cook out of the rain.

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Great place to stay. Facilities exceptionally clean and value for money. On arrival had bad weather and reception was happy for us to set up first and gave us time to pay the bill rather than on arrival. Relaxed atmosphere and easy going staff.
Everything is there that's needed for a good camp and help along way.
Value for money!

Excellent campsite, lovely views & great facilities
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The site was spacious so we didn’t feel at all overcrowded and there was plenty of room to park as well. The views are lovely. The common room was a brilliant space to hang out in wet weather, and was well equipped with a kettle, microwave, fridge and freezer, as well as spaces to cook with our stove. There were plenty of fire pits available too. The toilet and shower facilities were good - showers were hot and powerful and I didn’t have to queue at all. Overall we had a great stay and I think it was good value for what’s provided.

Would definitely recommend.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Great site, excellent value. Loved the communal room, a real bonus, especially on a wet weekend. The facilities were well thought out and always clean. The fields were not overcrowded and had great views (we were on the non-riverside area; the riverside pitches are gorgeous but quite far from the facilities). Felt quiet and remote, despite being just a few minutes off the A66. Nice playground for kids too. Wifi in the communal area, but poor signal on site (to be expected given location).
Disliked Showers were the ones where you have to re-press the button every so often, which is fine generally, but these went off every 10 seconds so needed re-pushing very often.
Some people might not like the signs around the place reminding people to clean up after themselves but it's only common courtesy and the place was always neat and clean.

The best views of the northern fells ever and always super clean.
The pizza man who turned up was amazing, decent 12” pizzas too for the price.

Clean site, stunning views, great facilities – perfect family camping
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked We had a fantastic time at Gill Head campsite for our little one’s very first camping trip ( 2 years old). The site itself was spotless and really well looked after, which made everything feel welcoming and comfortable. The views from the campsite are stunning, and the facilities were excellent — everything we needed was close by and easy to use. It felt like a really family-friendly place, and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot for a first camping experience in 8 years. We’ll definitely be coming back! FYI - we had very good phone signal despite some reviews saying signal is bad. We were on the far side of the campsite overlooking the sheep field.
