  • Pop up wild camping at a livery yard in the Eden Valley
  • Easy access to the M6/A66 and a 15 min drive to Penrith or Ullswater i
  • Between the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines
In the peaceful, rural village of Cliburn, Croft House’s pop-up camping field has views over the Eden Valley in gorgeous Cumbrian countryside. Situated between Penrith and Appleby on a livery yard Croft House offers a back to basics camping experience in a quiet location. In fact, with only a few pitches, it’s so quiet up here that the horses and hens may be your only close neighbours. To keep you comfy on-site facilities are pretty minimal, but there’s a toilet on the livery yard (bring a torch for nocturnal wanderings) and the grass pitches are level and sheltered by dry stone walls. There are beautiful walks in Cliburn Moss and Whinfell Forest minutes from the campsite. You might even spot some of the resident red squirrels and deer that live in the area. Dogs are welcome on site as long as they are kept on a lead on site. The market town of Penrith is 15 minutes’ drive with lots of local independent shops and plenty of pubs to tempt you in if you don’t feel like cooking. You can easily explore the lakes and fells of the Lake District National Park which is a short 20 minutes’ drive away.
