Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Stunning views from motor home electric pitch’s ,we liked the association with the rugby club. Easy walking distance of Kirkby Lonsdale which is a great town to visit. Hosts were excellent and helped us out with an issue

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Large site with separate areas for hook-ups and tent / no hookups. Set out in and around the rugby club so expect training and other rugby activities to be going on around you but that was quite nice to be amongst. No one was around when I arrived but there was a site plan posted on the reception window showing all the bookings and where your pitch was situated so it was easy to get set up. The town was a short walk away which was useful for shopping. All in all, a great stay, highly recommended.

Disliked: Nothing.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely welcome and nice views

Disliked: £37.50 to basically spend the night in a car park, definitely won’t be back. Didn’t feel it was safe enough to leave the van and go walking, such a disappointment

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The views were amazing/beautiful. The owners were very friendly and helpful too. Massive area for children/adults to play games. Meeting other people who were lovely to talk to. Kirkby's little town Is lovely and a short walk from the camp site. There's plenty to explore around this area. The shower rooms/toilets weren't far away.

Disliked: Maybe they could open the bar on a evening?

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: A well organised site, plenty of space for pitches and games, dogs etc, with wonderful views over the valley to the hills beyond. On arrival I was met with a friendly welcome and shown around, fully informed. The facilities are spacious and kept clean. Kirkby Lonsdale is a short walk away and a lovely place to explore with plenty of eating options and a good variety of independent shops.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Friendly check in with good info given. Spacious and quiet plenty of room on pitch and between with space for children to play around. Great views and walks with town very local and easy to walk to.

Disliked: Lack of toilets - two in each changing room so only access to 2 most of the time as other licked off while showers being used. No soap in main toilets for most of the stay

Local attractions

There's a bit of a scrum over Kirkby Lonsdale, with the Lakes, the Dales and even the Forest of Bowland all claiming the town as their gateway… and why not indeed… There are many fine old inns among the 17th- and 18th-century houses of this handsome old market town, and visitors to the 11th-century church should find peace and reflection. With the river flowing right through, you're well placed to go fishing or paddle a canoe downstream; paths make for excellent easy riverside rambling too. Head half an hour north and you'll hit Windermere. Take in the view, then take a walk: at the top of the lake, Ambleside (45 minutes' drive) is a hub for many paths up the high tarns and fells. Clamouring for your attention to the east, the three peaks of the Yorkshire Dales are in easy reach, with Ingleborough closest (half an hour). If you don't fancy going up, head down to the fab caves instead. Meanwhile, armchair adventurers can settle in a comfy berth on the scenic Settle-Carlisle railway starting in, er, Settle (an hour's drive) or see the lakes from the decks of a steamer on Windermere.
