Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Super quiet, flat pitches with beautiful views & surrounded by farm animals. Absolutely perfect for us. Louise, the owner is very lovely (as are her dogs!) & helpful. Facilities very basic, but spotlessly clean & showers lovely & hot. One of the best sites we've stayed at all year!

Disliked: The only thing I disliked was having to pick up 3 piles of dog 💩 before pitching - no big deal for us though.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely views and beautiful setting for a campsite. Plenty of fire pits to use. Cute and friendly dogs wandering around the site.

Disliked: The toilet area was generally clean but getting rid of the cobwebs would be an improvement.

Liked: Beautiful views and owners seemed lovely

Disliked: Showers and toilets would be okay if they had some tlc and a good clean. Farm dogs friendly but as there are free to roam they can poop anywhere too

Rail camping pod

Liked: . Location was lovely small site with everything you could possibly need. . Friendly owner who gave us all the information on local walks and such . Was a working farm with animals roaming (dogs, ducks, goats) which gave the stay a certain lovely charm . Rail cabins where clean and rustic with a cozy vibe . Views where spectacular. Would definitely recommend this site.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Loved this campsite! Rustic charm, the facilities are fine, who wants fancy when they are camping anyways. The places where you can pitch your tent are all super lovely, we went for the top field so we could watch the sun setting over the trees while we had a cold beer. Really lovely campsite our only negative was that we only booked one night!

Disliked: Nothing!

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Absolutely stunning campsite with gorgeous views and a friendly host and very friendly dogs! Good facilities, fairly clean with us being on a working farm. No fancy or frills, just a good old fashioned camp site. Faultless.

Local attractions

Of the many footpaths straight from the farm, the main one is the Foxfield to Broughton route along a disused railway line right into Broughton. Other paths can take you to the Broughton Mills area, Seathwaite valley and Ulpha valley; ask the Moss Farm team to point you in the right direction. If you're in the area for watersports, Coniston Lake, the third biggest in the Lake District, is the closest to the farm and is 10 minutes' drive away. Otherwise try pony trekking at Spoon Hall near Coniston, Muirthwaite Green at Silecroft or Cumbrian Heavy Horses in the Whicham Valley, all within 15 minutes' drive. Historic house fans have many in the area to pick from, like Muncaster Castle, Sizer Castle, Holker Hall and Levens Hall, as well as many National Trust houses such as Dove House in Grasmere, home of daffs man William Wordsworth. The towns of Windermere and Ambleside are about 20 minutes' drive away, as is South Lakes Animal Park at Dalton-in-Furness, an attractive option for animal fans. The staff at the Broughton-in-Furness tourist information centre can give you tips on what's best to see and do.
