Wild Meadow Glamping: View over the field

General

  • Dog-friendly farm site in the Cheshire countryside
  • Half an hour’s drive to BeWILDerwood Cheshire; 45 minutes from Chester
  • Access to walking and cycling paths; farm shop and country pubs nearby

Rural’s the spirit at Wild Meadow Glamping in the Cheshire countryside… here, your new temporary abode is a peaceful farm site with flat and well-kept grounds, basic facilities and an attractive selection of local trails accessible from the site, whether for walks short or long or two-wheeled adventures (your call…).

While this is a quiet corner of the countryside, you certainly won’t feel cut off here, as the site is 15 minutes’ drive away from Junction 18 on the M6. Dogs also have a place but guests must keep them on a lead at all times until they’re let loose in the designated run area.

This site keeps things low-key on the facilities front, as the focus is on some proper outdoor relaxation (that means access just to clean and functional toilets). Open-air dining will be on the cards if you like, as you’re welcome to bring a barbecue or gather the gang around for a cosy evening by the firepit as the sun goes down over the Cheshire plains.

For farm produce to go on the grill, there’s a popular farm shop and café five minutes’ drive away. Over that way, the Hopley House Shopping Village has everything from gifts and a ladies’ boutique to furniture, craft classes and dog accessories, silks and flowers in the shops. As for country pubs, well, there are three of those a short drive away from the site too.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

I travelled here for a mummy daughter weekend with my 3 year old, we absolutely loved everything about our say!! The tent was large and immaculately clean, the bed was very comfortable we both had a great nights sleep and everything was provided plus more! We were given free fire wood for the firepit, there were fire lighters and charcoal for the bbq and we even had little sachets of tea, coffee and milk for a lovely cup of tea after our long drive. I also felt as if it was really safe for my little girl to have a run around and a play on the site and we had a few cows, horses and chickens as our neighbours to say hello to. We honestly had the best weekend!

The host Paul was very available and helpful. I loved being able to book to have a firepit with unlimited wood. The site was very beautiful and peaceful; I saw a buzzard and a hawks and there were lots of wrens, blackbirds and chiff chaffs.

There is a great farm shop just down the lane, selling milk and dairy products, eggs and fresh fruit and vegetables for very reasonable prices.

The facilities were very clean, though limited, with a portaloo and a washing up area but no shower.

Lovely family owned camping place. The area is picture perfect, clean, quiet. There is a farm next to it, perfect for kids to see the farm animals, they can even pet them and there is a farm shop, the ice creams and cream&strawberries are the must to try. We will be back definitely, so far this was the best place as for the family with a child where we went for camping. The owners are very friendly, lovely family!

Local attractions

With all of the outdoors immediately around the site, you’ll already have this natural adventure ground at your fingertips, but when the kids are after somewhere with playgrounds of the manmade kind, BeWILDerwood Cheshire (half an hour’s drive) fits the bill nicely, as this treehouse-themed place should bring games to life pretty well.

There’s another playground at the Crocky Trail (35 minutes), or you could try The Ice Cream Farm (35 minutes) – as the name gives away, this place is rather well-known for its ice creams, of which there are over 40 flavours (maybe just don’t attempt to try them all at once if you’re planning on making the most of the quad bikes or visiting the farm animals…).

Down for some more action, this time in the form of lakeside walks, animals and more playgrounds? The 19th-century Cholmondeley Castle Gardens (half an hour) has all three. Meanwhile, Trentham Estate (35 minutes) has a whole different combo – and one that’s quite unusual, as it includes gardens, a shopping village, events and a monkey forest. Yes, that’s with real monkeys.

Over Chester way, there’s the classic Chester Zoo (45 minutes) for animals galore, or the walled cathedral city itself (45 minutes) too.

Must see

  • Anderton Boat Lift - Lift Trips (13.6 kilometres)
  • Little Moreton Hall & Gardens (NT) (14.6 kilometres)
  • Delamere Forest (17.0 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Biddulph Grange Garden (20.5 kilometres)
  • Nether Alderley Mill (21.9 kilometres)
