  • Spacious dog-friendly site with spectacular views over the Pennine Way
  • Within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland
  • Dog exercise area; two minutes' walk from the local pub
Thinking of visiting the Yorkshire Dales National Park? Or maybe the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? How about both? Willowbeck Farm, on the edge of the little North Yorkshire village of Wigglesworth, is neatly located between the two, putting guests within easy reach of lots of scenic areas for walks, bike trails and horse riding. (Need tips on the top spots? Try the spectacular surrounds of Malham Cove or the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, both around half an hour’s drive away). Town attractions and amenities are handily nearby too: you’re five miles from the market town of Settle (where there’s also a supermarket if you don’t happen to be passing by on a market day) and around a half-hour drive from Skipton and Clitheroe for castle visits and plenty of independent shops to poke around in. Back at base, you’ll be staying on a small, quiet and well-maintained adults-only site with smart toilet and shower facilities and a dog exercise area. If you fancy heading out for a meal or a drink, there are a couple of country inns nearby, with the very popular Plough Inn roughly two minutes' walk from site. Please be mindful that this is a rural site and the digital TV signal is very weak. Although there's no wifi here, there's usually great 5G mobile data coverage on site.

Local attractions

There are heaps of options around here if you’d like to stretch your legs – head a few minutes’ drive west for the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or east to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Popular spots include Gisburn Forest (15 minutes' drive), Malham Cove and Tarn (25 minutes) and Janet’s Foss waterfall (25 minutes). To delve under the Dales, head to Ingleborough Cave (25 minutes); stick to the surface for trips to Settle Falconry (15 minutes) or the romantic ruins of 12th-century Bolton Abbey, set in a whopping 30,000-acre park (half an hour). Follow up by heading to Harrogate (50 minutes) to refresh at the famed Betty’s tearooms or Pateley Bridge (50 minutes) to peruse the shelves of The Oldest Sweet Shop In The World. If you’ve overdone the exercise a little while roaming, take it easy for a while by heading to Skipton (25 minutes) to cruise along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal or settle down in a seat on the Settle-Carlisle Railway (10 minutes) for a scenic 73-mile ride through the spectacular countryside.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Views

Disliked: Pitch under trees , no sun, when it rained sap dropped and stained caravan! Not enough toilet facilities, they were very clean though.Smell from waste areas was very strong at times . Won't stay again .

From the manager: Thank goodness we don’t have to put up with people like you anymore… So you think I’m God? Clearly you believe I could have ordered you some sunshine…give me strength…. “No Sun”… what a joker! Why do you chose a site in the countryside with pictures that clearly depicts its covered in beautiful trees? It’s a fact of nature that trees attract aphids who eat the trees sap and then poop out a sticky byproduct…if you hadn’t buried your caravan under the gorgeous trees you mite not have been pooped upon 🤣 Apologies for not providing you with en-suite sauna facilities! The smell was from some idiot (?) who tipped his toilet waste we’ve now discovered in the grey water disposal pipe and liberally all around over it seems a few days. Why people do not report these things at the time is quite simply beyond me. So pleased to hear you won’t be returning!

Very disappointed and definitely would not return or recommend.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: View from caravan was lovely. Field for exercising dogs.

Disliked: Our stay at Willowbeck Farm was disappointing, we requested a gravel pitch but nothing on the website mentioned that it was right next to a very busy road that motor bikes used as a race track, not the site owners fault I know but prior warning would have been good. Our caravan was under a huge conifer tree and it was a battle trying to keep our caravan clean from all the dead pine needles surrounded the pitch, nothing was mentioned on the website that there is zero tv signal under the trees. The one toilet and shower was clean but I found the ladies shower was only lukewarm and the mens was either cold or scalding hot. The washing up area outside the toilet block was scruffy, the Elsan disposal point was the worst we have ever seen and the smell was awful. The site rents a pod which is only meters from the Elsan disposal, not sure I would want to eat outside next to the smell.

From the manager: Thank you for your rather unbalanced and rather misleading inaccurate review. If you had bothered to read the description you would have actually found the information that you mistakenly said was not there! We also didn’t particularly enjoy having to remove your dogs muck from the grass and found it disgusting that you thought it was acceptable conduct to throw tinned dog food over the grass that guests sit on….we also wonder who the guest was that kept emptying their “Elsan waste” into the grey water trap as they were responsible for the pong! We never did discover who it was as there were clear signs of where to tip grey and elsan waste. We have our suspicions though.

Pod stay, clean facilities.

Camping pod

Liked: Pod- cleanliness. Quiet and small site. Adult only. Location - great for hiking. Toilet/ shower facilities were clean. Parking next to the Pod. The Plough Inn - 5 min walk from site and it has a welcoming atmosphere and lovely food.

Disliked: Visited due to other positive reviews. Was slightly disappointed due to the location of the Pod on the site. It is next to the toilet block, not secluded / private. There was a very unpleasant smell outside the Pod - possibly from the septic tank. Pod needs better lighting- only has LED strip lights inside- take a torch!

From the manager: Thank you for your comments. It seems as though the main heading descriptor in the pod advertisement of “basic camping pod” led you to believe it was an iddillic luxury pod, tucked away for romance pod set in its own grounds…. basic means basic I’m afraid! And you were quite right about the unpleasant smell as regrettably no one brought to our attention (and my crystal ball was down) this fact which when we investigated was down to another camper emptying their chemical waste into the grey water drain and they had been doing this on about 4 occasions on Friday/Saturday… all we needed was to be made aware and we could of done something about it as it’s always a bit late after the event.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Nice showers, well kept, no issues at all. Very pleasant small site. Would and probably will visit again. The pub round the corner serves an incredible meal!

Disliked: Road noise. Nothing that can be done about that mind. We just had a pitch right next to the road.
