Self-catering on a North Yorkshire farm anyone? Field House Farm between Selby and York is all kitted out in some style and awaiting your arrival. Keen to escape the kids? This lodge is also adults-only, so you can enjoy some peaceful grown-up time. So what to expect? A properly well-equipped, open-plan kitchen/diner with a seating area and kettle, toaster, microwave, gas hob and fan-assisted oven. All linen and towels are supplied in the double bedroom, which has bags of storage for your bits and pieces as well as a TV for lazy mornings. The ensuite comes with a large walk-in shower for cleaning off after muddy country walks. The TV and DVD player in the lounge take care of any rainy days, and the lodge is double glazed, with central heating and an additional fire to make sure you stay warm. Just a word of warning here: wifi is available but it can be a bit dodgy due to the rural location. And when the sun appears, outside there’s a grassed garden with seating and a barbecue (please bring your own charcoal) on the patio. Although you could probably quite happily sink onto the sofa and gaze at the views for a couple of days, that would be a shame as there’s so much to see and do from this rural corner of Yorkshire. Make a start by discovering the local pub, a 45-minute walk away and known for its delicious roast dinners.
