  • Well-maintained glamping site with a licensed shop and café
  • A 20-minute drive from Dalby Forest and half an hour from Scarborough
  • On-site café, kitchen facilities, picnic benches and a barbecue
When you’re browsing for a North Yorkshire getaway, you’ll be wanting a site that really looks after its facilities and guests. And that place is Hawthorn Glamping at the award-winning Vale of Pickering Caravan Park. Settle in to your accommodation, right at the edge of the North York Moors National Park, and look forward to an outdoor break with lots of amenities – and no need to put up a tent, as your accommodation is all set up for your arrival. Just get there and you’re immediately all good to get into holiday mode. Cooking outdoors is possible as a charcoal barbecue is provided, so all you’ll need to pack is a bit of bedding, clothes and some cooking utensils. Eat your meals on the picnic bench – with a parasol set up to protect from the rays – or skip the self-catering and head to the on-site café for tea or coffee and plenty of homebaked goodies including croissants and breakfast items. If this all sounds like everything’s been thoughtfully planned at this site, that’s because it has. The park was originally set up in 1985, having began with five caravans in the corner of a field, so the owners have had plenty of time to improve the place. They also keep the grounds and communal facilities in tip-top condition – from the play area and football pitch to the well-stocked licensed shop. Here to explore? Have a chat with the owners about where in Yorkshire to yomp around – they love to share local knowledge and help you plan your days out.

Lotus bell tent (deluxe)

Liked: Really lovely campsite, great views, clean spacious facilities. We were glamping so booked a kitted out bell tent, I especially liked the little gas stove and kettle provided. We had a bbq and picnic bench provided too. Would have expected fitted sheets and duvets on the beds but as it was advertised without we did bring our own. Really tasty and reasonably price cafe on site.

Disliked: Fish & chip van only took cash? this wasn’t advertised anywhere. I asked for cash back at the shop but the assistant sharply answered “no cash back” Disappointingly we missed out on the fish & chips.

Lotus bell tent (deluxe)

Liked: Lovely well maintained site with great facilities

Disliked: Chose this site for as it advertised as no group or associated bookings, low noise rules and a peaceful stay however this is not the case. The two glamping pods next to us were occupied by a very large group who had other groups of friends staying across the site who all gathered round the glamping pods on a night making it very noisy. Also loud music was being played by others late on a night with no policing of the noise rules
