  • Well-maintained Yorkshire campsite with clifftop views
  • Withernsea five minutes' drive; 20 minutes to Spurn Point
  • Heated shower block; secure site with CCTV
Set in an impressively peaceful spot just a short distance from the Yorkshire coast, Hollym Airfield Caravan and Camping is a laidback site in a scenic clifftop location. With spacious grass pitches and lots of fine views, this family-friendly site – where well-behaved dogs are also welcome to come and join you on your travels – is about a mile and a half from the local town of Withernsea and 40 minutes' drive from Hull. The nearest beach is roughly 10 minutes away on foot, and if you keep heading along the shore (when the tide is out) you'll soon reach the town centre (25 minutes from base), where you can access its handy shops, supermarkets, promenade and leisure centre. Hollym Airfield Caravan and Camping is a family-run business with well-maintained amenities, including a washing-up area, a water refill point, a grey water disposal point, CCTV for extra security and a heated toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. After a day of long exploring, you could light up a barbecue by your pitch, explore the various eateries on offer in Withernsea or tuck into a traditional fish and chips there or in other coastal spots such as Hornsea (35 minutes) or Bridlington (an hour).

A grand, well-kept site with lovely sea views & beach access. Guests rave about the spotless loos, helpful staff & relaxed vibe. Flat pitches & easy access to town are big pluses. A bit blowy at times, with wishes for more showers when busy.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Really nice campsite, lots of useful information, toilets & showers are very clean.
Whole place was well kept.
Visited with a small family using a roof tent and the views are amazing, especially when the sunsets. My daughter loved the swings. Lots of friendly people around.
Visited the pub just across the road and it had a good atmosphere would have stayed longer but our dog was getting restless.
We really enjoyed it and said we can’t wait to come back.

Electric grass pitch

Liked from getting there, they just let you pick your own electric hook-up and pitch where you want. the idea of renting items such as BBQ's, Fire pits, wind breakers etc for a small amount of money. is a brilliant idea so you don't have to bring you own saving you space. the pub which opens on a Friday & Saturday across the road is an absolute must really cosy, nice and cheap and the lady who owns it (sorry I forgot her name) is so friendly and attentive. just getting camped out in front of the log fire on the evening is really nice.
me and my wife found this by accident looking for a different site and I will say we will defiantly be back here soon.

Disliked nothing to dislike the site is great and if you fancy it about a and half walk into Withernsea.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked We were greeted with a warm welcome from one of the staff who handed us the site access code and general camp site etiquette and information, which was really useful.

As we were non-electric we were able to set up wherever we wanted, so we went straight towards the cliff edge. This campsite offers breath-taking views out to sea and we were lucky enough to have some great weather for September, only a couple short-lived thundery showers.

The campsite was very clean and clearly well-kept.

I loved hearing the odd chicken on the farm on the opposite side of the road and a wake up call from a boisterous sounding cockerel! All in all, a fantastic campsite and exceeded all of our expectations

Facilities were clean, tidy and well looked after

There is an informal hill route down to the beach which, with some sharp eyework, you will likely find some fossils!!

Please take negative reviews with a pinch of salt. This camp site is a gem of a find and couldn't recommend it enough to whoever is considering visiting!!

Disliked I think there may need to be more toilets and shower facilities, especially when busy. But this shouldn't be taken as a deterrent to visit the campsite as its still great!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked I recently stayed at a small, quiet campsite right on the coastal seafront and had such a lovely experience. The location was perfect – peaceful, with beautiful sea views and just the right atmosphere for unwinding. It felt tucked away, yet close enough to enjoy walks along the beach and take in the fresh sea air.

The site itself was clean, well kept, and not overcrowded, which made it even more relaxing. Facilities were great and everything I needed, and the calm surroundings made for a really restful stay, thanks.

Local attractions

History and heritage abound around here: you're about five minutes' drive from such spots as RAF Holmpton bunker or Withernsea's well-maintained lighthouse museum, where you can learn about the area's mariners and airfarers of yesteryear. There are several more museums to explore in Hull (40 minutes), including Wilberforce House, where you can find out more about abolitionist and MP William Wilberforce, Kingston upon Hull's most celebrated son. Birdwatchers should pack some sturdy footwear, some binoculars and a thermos flask and head to Spurn Point (20 minutes), a spectacular nature reserve that extends for well over a mile into the North Sea. Seabirds also flock to Flamborough Head (an hour), just north of Bridlington, which is well worth visiting if you don't mind the drive. Brought kids who'll need to be kept entertained? Take them for a spin around the animal enclosures at Bugtopia Hornsea Zoo (35 minutes), or alternatively pack plenty of spare change and dispatch them to the arcades in Withernsea and Hornsea.
