Set in an impressively peaceful spot just a short distance from the Yorkshire coast, Hollym Airfield Caravan and Camping is a laidback site in a scenic clifftop location. With spacious grass pitches and lots of fine views, this family-friendly site – where well-behaved dogs are also welcome to come and join you on your travels – is about a mile and a half from the local town of Withernsea and 40 minutes' drive from Hull. The nearest beach is roughly 10 minutes away on foot, and if you keep heading along the shore (when the tide is out) you'll soon reach the town centre (25 minutes from base), where you can access its handy shops, supermarkets, promenade and leisure centre. Hollym Airfield Caravan and Camping is a family-run business with well-maintained amenities, including a washing-up area, a water refill point, a grey water disposal point, CCTV for extra security and a heated toilet and shower block with disabled facilities. After a day of long exploring, you could light up a barbecue by your pitch, explore the various eateries on offer in Withernsea or tuck into a traditional fish and chips there or in other coastal spots such as Hornsea (35 minutes) or Bridlington (an hour).

  • Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.
  • Units longer than 8.6 metres are not allowed.
  • Units heavier than 4500 kg are not allowed.
  • Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
  • Please note that the shower facilities are unisex.

Grand spot for stunning sea views from the cliffs. Lovely level pitches, spotless facilities, and staff are sound. Peaceful, handy for the beach & town. A bit windy maybe, but great value and a proper chill-out. Most are chuffed to bits and planning a return!

Liked What’s not to like. The weather was very changeable , but we walked into local town , unfortunately like many seaside towns off the beaten track ! A bit run down .
The camp site was great , nice facilities on Cliff top , amazing sunrise .
Well done Hollym airfield camping .
We will be back .

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked A very easy to find site from Manchester, on the M62 Eastbound straight journey, only had to turn right once just before Withernsea and found site on left
about half a mile on. The site is very spacious, mostly on grass, but 3 hardstanding pitches adjacent to the road one of which we had booked, but a bit too close to the road if you are a light sleeper. The facilities were very clean and a shower for wheelchair users provided. Pitches along the clifftop edge had great views over the north sea only being about 3mtrs or so from the edge !

Disliked As i mentioned, we booked a hardstanding pitch, this was too close to the road (quite busy at times evening and early morning ) for my wife as she is a light sleeper, so asked the owner if we could move to the clifftop part of the site, he was very accomodating and provided and extension lead for the hook up ( there are no hookups alomg the cliff edge ) and a small flag to put in the ground were our lead joined to his in the middle of the field.. so all very satisfactory ! Just one more point, there is no easy access to the beach from the site save for a rope to grab onto down a uneven slope, so the nearest safe access is at Withernsea only a mile away.

Liked Smashing view, nice level site with toilets and showers. Nice walk into Withernsea, beautiful beach. Good TV and phone signal . Nice and quiet. Great value for money

Liked Everything, brilliant staff and views, the facilities were very clean and the showers were lovely.
Great site in a lovely place very peaceful and relaxing would recommend this to anybody wanting to relax and chill out.

Liked clean toilets, large area, sea view at breakfast, quiet at night, you can leave your car next to the tent. We've been here twice and we'll gladly come back again

Disliked There's no chair or small table in the shower, which is a problem when you have to change your clothes, and there's no space for a makeup bag. The area is large, and there's only one shower for women, one for men, and one for people with disabilities.

Local attractions

History and heritage abound around here: you're about five minutes' drive from such spots as RAF Holmpton bunker or Withernsea's well-maintained lighthouse museum, where you can learn about the area's mariners and airfarers of yesteryear. There are several more museums to explore in Hull (40 minutes), including Wilberforce House, where you can find out more about abolitionist and MP William Wilberforce, Kingston upon Hull's most celebrated son. Birdwatchers should pack some sturdy footwear, some binoculars and a thermos flask and head to Spurn Point (20 minutes), a spectacular nature reserve that extends for well over a mile into the North Sea. Seabirds also flock to Flamborough Head (an hour), just north of Bridlington, which is well worth visiting if you don't mind the drive. Brought kids who'll need to be kept entertained? Take them for a spin around the animal enclosures at Bugtopia Hornsea Zoo (35 minutes), or alternatively pack plenty of spare change and dispatch them to the arcades in Withernsea and Hornsea.
