Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful site overlooking the sea. Pool, entertainment and shop on site.

Disliked: Lots of gypsies in the touring pitches. Totally taken over the laundry room, washing piled all over it, laundry drying outside over fences and gates. Feral children running wild, destroying the shower block. Rubbish strewn all over it, toilet paper pushed in the plug holes, faeces smeared on the walls, used sanitary products left on the floor. Shower block door wedged open so that anyone can walk in at any time. If you want to join the travelling community then this is the place for you. Avoid.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Loads for 8 yr old and 9 yr old grandkids to do swimming , parks , beach very close . Touring pitches hard stand electric hook up was plentiful , water and waste areas close to hand . Toilets and showers were very clean and on site for tourers. Sea views . Staff friendly and helpful . Enjoyed our stay .

Disliked: Wasn’t impressed with security as asked to look in my bag as I went into book swimming , I had 2 young children with me . Touring pitches could do with a bit of a tidy up looked a bit unkept . Only given 40 mins in the pool and not given the option to re book . Wasn’t aware there was Wi-Fi as not given any info for this

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: The location for our visit to See Bruce Springsteen in Sunderland

Disliked: On arrival toilets showers were spotless following day the women’s were horrendous no toilet paper and filthy not cleaned for 3 days (according to my wife). 25 hours of rain so most pitches were flooded and mud everywhere we did ask to move but the option was next to some rather loud guests so we stayed in the waterlogged pitch

Local attractions

Ramble or ride along the coastal path to get the best views of the ruggedly dramatic Durham Heritage Coast, or head inland to explore ancient woodlands such as Castle Eden Dene (15 minutes' drive), a 550-acre nature reserve with more than 450 types of flora and 12 miles of footpaths. In nearby Hartlepool (10 minutes), guests can tour HMS Trincomalee, the oldest warship still afloat in the UK, along with lots of other interesting stuff at the Maritime Experience on the historic quayside. Other popular attractions include the Tweddle Children’s Animal Farm, a 15-minute walk away (perhaps a little longer if you're marshalling small people), or the fascinating living history museum at Beamish (40 minutes' drive), where kids can don hard hats for trips down the mine, ride an old tramway and get stuck into lots of dressing up and activities. It’s also well worth a trip to Durham (25 minutes), where you can stroll along the river banks for stunning views of the ancient cathedral and castle; or to Newcastle (40 minutes), which is crammed with culture and commerce.
