  • Glamping site on an estate in the scenic Suffolk Coast and Heaths area
  • A 15-minute drive from both the sea and Sutton Hoo archaeological site
  • Small shop and seating area on site
Coast or country? Deciding between the two for a hol is quite often a quandary, but with Wantisden Park both types of lovely landscapes are within easy reach. Set on a private estate, this East Anglian glamping site in the lush Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is around a 15-minute drive from the sea. It overlooks ancient oak woodland and lakes home to countless plants and wildlife – including wild deer – so it’s a top base for holidaymakers keen on roaming the countryside. As well as wandering around the estate, guests at this site might like to partake in walks through the surrounding forestry. Plenty of pretty villages are also nearby: Orford, famed for its smokehouse, Norman castle and quay overlooking the banks of the River Ore (with boat rides available), is 15 minutes’ drive away, and the seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness, with their sweeping sandy beaches 25 and 30 minutes respectively. On site, there is a small shop where you can pick up essentials, complete with a seating area with wifi. This park’s amenities also include a refurbished shower block with changing rooms and laundry facilities.

What customers say

This peaceful adults-only site is nestled in lovely woods, with roomy pitches and spotlessly clean facilities. Guests rave about the friendly hosts, the calm vibe, and the great spot for walks and cycles. The cafe's a hit too, especially at weekends. Despite a few wee bits about Wi-Fi or slopey pitches, most found it a grand, relaxing time.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (adults only)

Liked Quiet, so so clean, friendly, great spot, very pretty and massive pitches. We had such a relaxing few days, Ross and Catherine’s place is fantastic and they are so friendly and welcoming, we had a choice of pitch including a sunny or shady spot. Just such a pretty area to walk and explore.

Disliked Absolutely nothing

Electric grass pitch (adults only, sloping)

Liked Absolutely love this site. Showers & toilets are great and super clean. Pitches are nice and big ….we were on a slope but used ramps for levelling no problem. Beautiful forest walks literally on the doorstep.
We took trip out to Orford Quey which was lovely and obviously Aldeburgh for fish & chips 😊.
Managers were very friendly and helpful. Perfect.

Liked Brilliant sized pitch, asked in advance for a quieter pitch as our dog gets nervous around people and this was more than accommodated! Lovely facilities and brilliant location.

Wooden Tent camping pod

Liked Everything. The “tent” itself was really well equipped with toaster, kettle, comfy mattress, pillows, camping chairs, plates, glasses, mugs, cutlery, a desk fan, 2 sockets, light, stable doors… We also had the use of a shared kitchen with microwave, large kettle, washing machine. Toilet and shower block was immaculate, and there was a cafe open from 9 to 12. With good internet access to boot. The site is spacious, quiet and peaceful (target demographic obviously includes a more mature crowd looking for peace and quiet) and is also dog friendly. We went to Snape Maltings for a concert in the evening, just a 14 minute drive. Hosts very helpful. Best site we’ve ever been to.

Liked The most peaceful place to stay, beautiful scenery and the non electric pitches were in a lovely location. The largest tent pitches we’ve ever stayed on which was an bonus. Owners were friendly and helpful. Great clean facilities. Fantastic for nature and good location for exploring Suffolk.

Bluebell camping pod

Liked ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Fantastic Stay at Wantisden Park
We stayed at Wantisden Park for the first time and chose the Bluebell Pod, and what a fantastic choice it was! The pod had absolutely everything you could want to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, and you really want for nothing.
The hot tub was a brilliant added bonus — and I have to say, my wife absolutely loved it! 😊
There are plenty of lovely walks around the park, and lots to see and do in the surrounding area, so there’s something for everyone.
The hosts were amazing and couldn’t have been more friendly or welcoming. Ross was a delight to talk to and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Nothing seemed too much trouble.
We also had breakfast at the café, which was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was fantastic too! ☕🍳
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Wantisden Park and would highly recommend the Bluebell Pod. We will definitely be looking forward to coming back! ❤️

Local attractions

One of the most sought-after sightseeing options in the Suffolk Coast and Heaths area is the Sutton Hoo archaeological site near Woodbridge (15 minutes’ drive) with its two 6th- and early 7th-century cemeteries. One was home to a ship burial where a multitude of Anglo-Saxon artefacts were uncovered, many of which were sent over to the British Museum in London due to their top cultural significance. Learn about the discovery, then potter over to the riverside setting of Snape Maltings (15 minutes) for more history in a village that's home to industrial buildings dating back to the Victorian era as well as modern galleries and boutiques. Woodbridge, a market town 20 minutes away, is also an excellent choice if you fancy shopping for souvenirs. For town times by the sea, Aldeburgh (25 minutes) is a pretty place set by a shingle beach on the North Sea; set off on a wander here towards the Martello Tower, built as a defence against Napoleon, then head over to the hamlet of Thorpeness (30 minutes from the site and a couple of miles from Aldeburgh) for a bit of boating on the mere.
