  • Dog-friendly site in a quiet rural part of north Norfolk
  • A 10-minute drive from Mundesley and 20 minutes from Cromer
  • Miles of footpaths and trails in the local area, including woods
Raring to go for a rural break in north Norfolk, with a little coast on the side? That’s no problem at NEPC Caravan and Camping Site. Based in a very quiet and rural north Norfolk field with horses for neighbours, hiking fans and those seeking the sand and seaside will be in their element. Take off on one of the walks directly from the site or map your way out to the miles of footpaths and trails in the local area. Where to? Well, perhaps Bacton Wood (10 minutes) for strolls and picnics or to the splendidly scenic North Walsham & Dilham Canal, 15 minutes’ drive away. The Norfolk Broads and Cromer are both around 20 minutes’ drive away too. Toilets and showers are available on site, so you'll have some simple facilities to use at the end of a day of adventures. Potter down to the closest pub, which is half an hour’s walk away, or track down tasty country pub eats, fish and chips and beer by the sea in Mundesley (10 minutes). There’s a butchers 15 minutes’ walk away for fresh meat and bistros and gourmet joints in the surrounding area too. North Walsham, five minutes’ drive away, is especially suited to foodies, as it has supermarkets, shops and cafés as well as a library and a bank. With all the walks and the outdoor activities around, dogs are welcome at NEPC Caravan and Camping Site (just keep them on a lead around livestock). Other very handy facilities on site include a chemical disposal point, wifi and grey water disposal points.

Fully-serviced grass touring pitch

Liked: Liked everything. Phil and Lou are lovely, The two toilets their with a shower are fine, clean, and have a fan heater if needed.

Disliked: only that the fire wood was a bit pricey.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The site is very pretty and well kept. Not too big which is nice. The pitches are laid out in nice sizes and everything is close to hand. Fields surrounding have horses in them which adds to the view, met a lady who was very polite and friendly, not sure if she was an owner. The showers were hot and good water pressure. We would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Not a dislike, but just a little niggle, the shower blocks could have been just a bit cleaner. There is a note saying to contact owners, which I didn't. They weren't bad though, I'm just a clean freak lol.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The campsite was very peaceful, meaning that we were able to enjoy quiet family time whilst soaking up the sun. The shower/toilet facilities were clean, the showers were very warm (some of the best that we've had whilst camping). The people on the site were very friendly and that made the experience more enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Disliked: The only improvement we found was the washing up facilities, the sink was very low down meaning that it hurt our backs when we washed up (as we are a quite tall family). I would also suggest adding another sink in to prevent a queue.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: It was a nice experience. Toilets and showers were clean and regularly checked by someone. Enough space given for the pitch to fit an entire caravan and car next to with ( i had a tent though) Campfires are allowed but not opened ( they must be in those campfires thingies). This is not mentioned on their page. All on all, nice.

Disliked: Nobody was there to meet and greet or say goodbye. I would believe that you can just drive in, stay the night or whatever, and then leave without anyone even know ( there are cameras though)

Local attractions

Straight off to the sea, you might very well be, with Cromer’s seaside amusements and pier (20 minutes’ drive) being so easy to get to. In August, Cromer hosts a carnival week and there are fireworks on New Year’s Day (weather permitting). Sheringham (half an hour) is excellent too, especially its fun pool, gardens and old-school North Norfolk Steam Railway. For wildlife encounters, head to the Cley Marshes Visitor Centre (40 minutes), near Cley next the Sea. Another spot is Blakeney (40 minutes), which has England’s largest grey seal colony. You might fancy a visit to the so-called capital of the Norfolk Broads, Wroxham (half an hour), where there’s daily boat hire, river trips, riverside cafés, pubs and shops. The city of Norwich (45 minutes), has a castle museum, a cathedral, excellent shopping, a theatre, art galleries, cafés, pubs and restaurants, of course. And what else? Perhaps the historical Blickling Hall (20 minutes) or family-friendly attractions like the Banham Zoological Gardens (an hour and 10 minutes), Wroxham Barns (20 minutes) craft centre and play park, Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure (40 minutes) and BeWILDerwood Norfolk (20 minutes)?
