It’s not often you get the chance to take a peek inside the Queen’s house, so you’d best take the opportunity to visit Sandringham 15 minutes’ drive away while you’re here. The huge estate has heaps to see as you wander round the gardens, country park, museum and areas of the house.
Other historic attractions locally include Houghton House (one of the UK’s finest Palladian mansions and home to an excellent contemporary sculpture garden) and the minster and Lynn Museum in King’s Lynn. Both are around 15 minutes away by car.
For a dose of sea air, it’s a half-hour drive to Hunstanton on the north Norfolk coast. Head up here for beach days, coastal walks, watersports, birdwatching at RSPB Titchwell Marsh, and boat trips in search of seals. If you’ve got kids to amuse, it’s also worth stopping in at Snettisham Park to meet the farm animals as you head to or from the coast.
