  • Peaceful glamping meadow near West Runton Beach in North Norfolk
  • A 10-minute drive from Felbrigg Hall and North Norfolk Railway
  • Comfortable bell tents, showers shacks, communal kitchen and firepits
A beach, a steam train, a big country house, an old flint church… they’re all typical attractions of North Norfolk and all within 20 minutes’ drive of Gresham Hall Glamping. Suffice to say this pop-up glampsite is in a mighty handy location for sightseers. Set in the sleepy village of Aylmerton, home to the flint St John the Baptist church, the glampsite somehow manages to be five minutes’ drive from the National Trust-owned Felbrigg Hall and 10 minutes from the beach and still dodges the holiday crowds. It’s also remarkably comfortable, which surely seals the deal. So what’s on offer on site? Bell tents in a hay meadow, each sleeping a family of up to four, with proper double beds for the grown-ups and air mattresses for the kids. Heating comes in the form of a toasty woodburning stove, and electricity is provided for bedside lights, electric blankets and phone charging. Most things you need for cooking are supplied. Crockery, cutlery and utensils. A kettle for that essential morning tea or coffee, and a cool box for storing essentials. Outside there’s a picnic table, firepit and barbecue. Wood and charcoal are available to buy from Gresham Hall Estate. Shacks with hot showers and flushing loos are a short walk across the meadow, as well as a communal fridge and microwave in the outdoor kitchen, while drinking water taps are dotted around the glamping field. Twice a week is pizza night, when delicious pizzas are cooked to order using the freshest ingredients – but do respect the 10pm campsite curfew, so no late-night pizza parties please.

Not what I'd call glamping, but great for camping near the coast.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Spacious field, big skys. Clean loos and hot showers. Fridges and fire pits.

Disliked: Uneven ground with quite a few thistles and nettles. Not much wood for the firepit.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: This was a nice stay and good price. Liked that there was a shed that had a fridge and kettle in for people to use.

Disliked: Could do with more facilities, toilets and washing station was busy on a morning when everyone is getting up.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: A very quiet, well secluded site, within a five minute drive of Cromer. The surrounding fields are idyllic! The bbqs and fire pits are a lovely touch, along with a shed with Electric points, a fridge, kettle and microwave. Hassle free booking and owners were really attentive and easy to get hold of. Will definitely be visiting with my family again very soon

Disliked: The only thing, if I was to suggest anything at all, would be to install a few more toilet and shower shacks, in order to prevent queues on the busier weekends.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Informal nature of the campsite, new shower facilities, recharging station, ease of booking, comprehensive and helpful pre-arrival information.

Disliked: Uneven ground with long cut grass lying around, not much level ground. Not a big problem, but not really the 'glamping' experience indicated by the campsite name.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Toilets

Disliked: Not really car appropriate as the track to it more suited to farm vehicles. Clear the tree logs from the ground under all the cut grass before you put up ur tent. Preferably face ur tent away from the houses as some old perv loves his big high powered torch.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: The showers and loos were kept in really good condition. The camp is set in a lovely quiet field with plenty of privacy and nice views. I definitely recommend this camp to anyone looking for a short/long relaxed holiday in close proximity to beaches and supermarkets.
