  • Glampsite at the foot of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire
  • A 10-minute drive to Ledbury, and 30 minutes to Cheltenham Racecourse
  • TVs and kitchenettes; pub next door and a shop in five minutes’ drive
With easy access from the M5 and M50, yet adjoining the southern end of Worcestershire’s Malvern Hills, Malvern Park makes a smashing glamping base to discover the region’s glorious sights, whether you want to explore on foot, on two wheels or by car. With well-equipped kitchens and plenty of space in the living areas, the bespoke glamping accommodation comes with TVs, private shower facilities and proper beds. Everything is included, from cooking gear to the logs for your woodburner – so all you need to worry about is your own bedding. The atmospheric Duke of York Inn is right next door, and there are several other foodie pubs locally. If you’d rather go down the self-catering route, Pendock village (five minutes’ drive) has a handy shop, with another at Welland (15 minutes). For bigger shopping expeditions, historic Ledbury (10 minutes) has all the usual supermarkets as well as loads of indie shops – and plenty of pubs and restaurants to tempt you in. Getting out and about in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is easy too; there’s common land at Hollybush (five minutes) where you can exercise your canine chums, and for serious hikes or bike rides with dramatic views, the Malvern Ridge trail (10 minutes to the car park) is hard to beat. The site owners are happy to prove maps and point you in the right direction.

Local attractions

As well as being a hotspot for walkers and cyclists, the Malvern Hills have more than their fair share of pretty and historic towns. With a mash-mash of half-timbered buildings and Georgian architecture, Ledbury (10 minutes’ drive) also has arty shops aplenty and loads of spots for quick caffeine fixes. Tewkesbury (15 minutes) offers a fine Norman abbey (check out the stained glass) and a jumble of medieval streets crammed with interesting stores. If you’re travelling with kids, let them loose on assault courses at Eastnor Castle (10 minutes), and pet oh-so-cute donkeys and alpacas at Newbridge Farm Park (20 minutes). Get them out into nature with woodland walks along the Haugh Wood Butterfly Trail (half an hour) or flying displays at The International Centre for Birds of Prey (25 minutes). Malvern Holiday Park is also a handy stopover for events including agricultural shows at The Three Counties Showground (15 minutes), and of course for having a flutter on the horses at Cheltenham Racecourse (30 minutes).
