Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Clean warm showers. Clean site

Disliked: Lady on the golf cart wasn't the most pleasant. I had been told our pitch would be on the fence line (6 year old so easier to control) but she tried to put us on a pitch middle of field. When I questioned her about this she said it's because I was 40 minutes early (11.20) and the pitch we were having hadn't vacated yet for 12. The motor home on this pitch stayed the 3 days we were there. She went off to the office and told me not to move. When coming back she sped past and just shouted "Follow me" and pointed to our pitch. She watched my back to the fence and just left. No idea where toilets were, elsan point, water etc etc. No communication at all.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, I am sorry that I made you wait, but as you pointed out you were 40 mins early so I had to check pitches, knowing you had been with me previously in April 2022 I felt I did not have to explain where everything was.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Nice site, walkable distance into Stratford although there is a bus stop nearby. Facilities all good although it can be a bit of a hike for the toilet/shower block, which were very clean, the showers were included in the pitch cost and worked by a lever tap ( much better than a push button), loved the walk around the track on the access road. Would certainly recommend.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Location and lovely walk into Stratford upon Avon.

Disliked: Lack of security on site, no barrier. We were near to families of travellers that were disruptive into the early hours, cars driving on and off site at all hours at speed and they left lots of rubbish. I didn’t report this as I was worried about repercussions.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that the location was the only aspect of our park you liked, unfortunately due to the nature of our park being part of the racecourse, we cannot offer a security barrier. I would like to point out that apart from the warden who welcomed you, there were 2 other sets of wardens who were both situated in the same area as yourself, they did not report to me any concerns or issues and neither did any other guests. I am disappointed however that this was not brought to the wardens attention at the time but, instead you chose to write it in a review!, had you reported this at the time i can assure you we would have investigated it and if any problems were found we could have resolved this or imposed any relevant sanctions without any repercussions to any of our guests staying on park. I note your low score for customer service, it is a shame that you felt our service level wasn't adequate but we were never given the opportunity to demonstrate it.

Local attractions

It's less than a mile from Stratford Racecourse Touring Park to the cottage of one fairly famous Miss Hathaway, and a 20-minute meander on a direct path along the greenway and the Avon bank to reach the shops, pubs, restaurants and Shakespearean sights of Stratford. Stratford-upon-Avon is of course the place for Shakespearean scholars the world over. Spend a couple of days around the main Shakespeare attractions in town – Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Shakespeare's Grave, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Hall's Croft, Mary Arden's Farm, Nash's House and New Place – and then catch a show at either/both of the RSC's theatres, the Royal Shakespeare and the Swan. The charity Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust keeps books, manuscripts and other interesting Shakespeare items in its Shakespeare and local collections. Also in Stratford, try to take a flutter at Butterfly World, Europe’s biggest butterfly collection, and check out nightly ghost tours at independent museum Tudor World. Those who fancy undramatic countryside walks can tackle part of the 146-mile Shakespeare's Way from Stratford to London's Globe Theatre via Oxford, the Cotswolds, Blenheim Park, the Grand Union Canal Walk and the Thames Path. More flutters can be had at the year-round meets of Warwick Racecourse less than ten miles from Stratford, and take time too to see the topping castles in the region: Warwick Castle, filled with family fun and events all year round, and Kenilworth Castle, described by an eminent historian as 'the finest surviving example of a semi-royal palace of the later middle ages'. More history? Try National Trust houses like Charlecote Park, the award-winning blacksmith’s workshop Chedham’s Yard, or getting envious among the vintage cars and motorbikes of Gaydon's Heritage Motor Centre. More horses? Get to Redwings Horse Sanctuary at Oxhill 10 miles south of Stratford to see over 90 horsey inhabitants on a free walk and talk tour.
