Settle yourselves down here, Shakespeare fans: Dodwell Park is just two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage and all the bardly attractions of Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s peace, there’s quiet, there’s a countryside setting – and if all that still isn’t enough for a final attempt to get the kids (and dog) reading sonnets, you can culture-ise them by taking them along to nearby Warwick Castle for all sorts of horrible history. Sorted. Dodwell Park is a small family-run site where the amenities are kept to spotless standards, with free hot showers, dishwashing facilities and hairdryers to keep the barnet looking tiptop. A shop and off-licence is on site, and armfuls of leaflets are at the information stand with info on Stratford-upon-Avon and other local tourist attractions. Nearby are Cotswold villages with Shakespearely thatched inns, walks and cruises along the River Avon and the hills of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Boating, fishing and old buildings are at Luddington village about three miles from Dodwell Park. Leaving the car behind to avoid hiking up car parking costs in Stratford? A regular bus service stops right outside the site.

Great spot for Stratford-upon-Avon, handy buses. Spacious pitches, hot water, and brilliant staff got the thumbs up. Facilities are a bit old but spotless and working grand. Dog walks are a bonus. Some said pitches were a bit sloped and the shop shut early, but most want to come back.

Liked Very welcoming reception, lovely quiet, tidy site. Toilet block very clean. Useful shop on site.
Have a large useful dog walking field near the entrance.
Excellent location and on bus route for Stratford centre.

Disliked We were left waiting to check in for quite some time before being shown where to pitch our van.

The plot we were given was next to what looked like a sited tourer or one on an extended stay, although the rules state no commercial vehicles these guys had a work pickup with tools etc all on the back and sign written, played music at ridiculous levels throughout the day and evening and the constant smell of cannabis coming into our caravan (with children) from the unit next.
Unfortunately we wouldn't return as this isn't what we expected from the site.
We were visiting Stratford for the weekend it's close enough to make this a convenient stop over for the town without being on top on it.

Facilities were clean except the smell of cannabis Friday evening while trying to use the showers

Liked Its a small site in a good location for Stratford with a bus stop outside the entrance. A basic shower block and a shop on site with the very basics. The couple running the site are very nice and welcoming

Disliked I learned that the site is being converted to park homes 🏡 so will be closing to tourers in 12 to 18 months

Many companies offer cruises along the Avon, but to save pennies take a trip on the old chain ferry for 20p, or stay on land and take the mile and a quarter route along the Avon for views of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s burial place Holy Trinity Church and the Memorial Theatre Gardens. Scores of other walks can be had in the Cotswolds, the biggest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England, with miles’ worth of footpath and bridleways broken up by small villages and market towns. After Warwick Castle, families can have a day out at the Ragley Hall Estate to get lost in the 3D maze, or go to Kenilworth Castle with its kids' audio trail covering the history of the castle and the lovelorn Robert Dudley who built it in the 16th century to impress Queen Elizabeth I. Kids will probably also like the gizmos at Stratford’s MAD (Mechanical Art and Design) Museum, Hatton Farm Village at Warwick or driving you nuts around the world’s biggest collection of historic British cars at the Heritage Motor Centre, which has the Land Rover Experience, a nature path and a playground.
