Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked: Location is lovely, grass pitches well maintained with long meadow grass dividers. Our own tap as well as electric socket is awesome. The owners are really lovely, friendly and genuinely nice people.

Disliked: The toilets / shower block are dreadful. Filthy dirty in every nook and cranny you can find, the windows the roof. The floor of the two shower rooms is a combination of uneven laminate flooring and and outdoor mat which again is disgusting, let alone to I’ll fitting shower certain. Really really basic and we did a very thing we can to avoid using the facilities which isn’t really hard as we were travelling with 3 kids. It’s needs modernising further than repainting the chip board roof and ceiling. It’s such a shame because we would love to come back regularly but not with these conditions.

From the manager: Well, where to begin. We have to say this damming review has arrived as a shock. Is there reason behind it we ask ourselves? We personally think a "keyboard warrior". You travelled with 3 children and had special requests for a suitable pitch. Even before you arrive we gave a great deal of thought into which pitch was best for your family on a weekend that we were full. Your eldest child loved nature. We talked to her about where the best places to find the plants and insects and ways to identify them. Then you score a 6 for child friendliness, WHY? 8 for accommodation, your tent was your own! You did well to score our wifi 6, we have no wifi, but thank you. We agree that the facilities are basic, they are what they are and remembering we are a 16 pitch campsite in the countryside and not a Haven site. They meet the needs of our many guest as those reading this post will next flick to the 10/10 reviews. Now to your real insult cleanliness 2!! I think you have watched too much 4 in a bed. it's a deep insult as we pride ourselves on how clean they are. 99% of customers describe our facilities as immaculate. There will always be the 1% (you) that don't. Thank you for your review. Its clear that Springfields is not the place for you

Excellent site, we will be back.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The wardens were so friendly and helpful, the site was beautiful, views went on for days! The facilities were lovely too, the kitchen area was covered in fairy lights and they had a fridge and microwave, you don’t see that often. The toilets and showers were spotless! I loved it so much, I’ve already rebooked for a few weeks time!

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked: Our pitch had all services, electrical, water and waste water. The pitch was very large and had a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. The warden was extremely helpful. The facilities, toilets, kitchen and a very useful information kiosk that even had books to borrow.

Bluebell bell tent (deluxe)

Liked: We love this site, it’s our second time going and we loved it even more this trip. It’s so clean and well maintained. The facilities have everything you need. The views are stunning. The site wardens are friendly and work hard to make sure it’s spotless and everyone has a good time. The children’s play area is brilliant, kids played all day and made friends.

Disliked: Nothing about the site. There isn’t much to do in the local vacinity but if you don’t mind a 20 minute drive in any direction there are places to go with the kids such as Alton towers, monkey forest, and waterworld. Depends what you want and how long you stay for.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for a lovely review, yes there is plenty to do within a short drive away. There are lots of leaflets in our information hut, for those who are seeking inspiration on what to do next.

Local attractions

Whether you’re up for browsing the racks, meeting monkeys or taking on treetop adventures, Trentham Estate (20 minutes’ drive) is the place to go: this one-stop complex set around an old manor house has a shopping village, apes and a rope-based expedition course through the forest. Rather watch the horses or bike racing than rush about in the woods? Uttoxeter Racecourse is 20 minutes away from Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping, while the Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club is reachable in half an hour. For calmer times, the stunning Dove Dale Stepping Stones and Thorpe Cloud – a limestone hill with views out over the Midland plain – are 20 minutes from the park for riverside and mountain walks. Or maybe try a bit of fishing? Blake Hall Fisheries (10 minutes' drive) sells day tickets for its three well-stocked lakes.
