  • Well-kept caravan pitches next to the Shropshire Union Canal
  • Ironbridge, Attingham Park and the Wrekin within 40 minutes' drive
  • In the grounds of a pub with home-cooked meals and a canalside garden
Parking your motorhome in a peaceful canalside location is a lovely thing. Then again, picking a pitch next to a pub is fantastic for convenient evening meals and drinks. It therefore possibly goes without saying that Wharf Caravan Park – which manages to roll both of those features into one truly splendid Shropshire location – is a real winner of a site. About 10 minutes’ drive from Market Drayton, this park sits right next to the Shropshire Union Canal, giving you easy access to the towpath for walks, fishing or just relaxing and watching the canal boats. It’s also very handily situated in the grounds of a friendly family-run pub that serves home-cooked meals daily as well as keeping a great selection of cask ales, beers, wines and other drinks. Settle down in a cosy corner by the fire in winter, or take your drinks out into the garden in summer – the grounds run down to the canal’s edge so it’s a wonderful spot for a scenic alfresco pint. And of course the major bonus is that you’ll be staying just a couple of minutes’ walk away – so there are no discussions to be had about whose turn it is to drive… The park itself has been nicely set up too, with well-spaced pitches (six metres between each one) that all have water and electric hookups and access to a chemical disposal point. There’s also drinking water, a washing-up area and 24-hour access to toilets and showers. Families and dogs are welcome at the caravan park, but please note that dogs can't be taken into the pub.

Lovely, peaceful canal-side spot with spotless pitches & great facilities. Friendly welcome and a cracking pub next door with grand grub and service. Showers a bit of a trek but always clean and hot. Top spot for a quiet break, folks want to come back.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Well laid out pitches in peaceful, rural setting. Welcoming reception at the great pub and by owner, very friendly. Beautiful spot alongside canal in lovely county. Pub gardens very pleasant by the Wharf.

Disliked Unfortunately, unable to take our dog into the pub although we were aware of this. Not a problem for this trip as campsite quiet, but the facilities are not sufficient for a full site, eg. limited hot water for washing up.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely setting, spacious pitches good security, next to canal, and good walks and drives in the countryside. Very friendly helpful staff, great food in the pub and good choice of drinks, a bit pricey but big portions. Gets busy so best to book. Lovely outside sitting area next to the canal and watch the wildlife.

Disliked Would be nice if water taps were in between pitches, having to walk across the road behind the pub for showers/No of showers available, if park is near capacity could be restricted. Not good in inclement weather

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Spacious size pitches, nicely kept site, warm welcome from the owner on arrival, great pub & restaurant on site, “great food and a nice log fire to keep you warm” great selection of beers etc,

Disliked Toilets and shower block very dated, although nice and clean,
Owner did mention it’s on her list of improvements
Mobile Reception very poor, even the Omani airial could not get a signal

Recommend to friends Visit again

Too expensive at £30 per night for the facilities on offer.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Decent sized pitches. Quiet location. Staff were very friendly.

Disliked Only 1 shower and toilet for ladies and 2 showers and toilets for men in main block behind pub. Not ideal for 25 touring pitches and 25 seasonal pitches. Toilet block in touring field was adequate. Washing up area is open to the elements, only 1 sink and it looked like someone had cleaned off their muddy boots in the sink.
Checking in was a little vague as you have to go into the pub during opening hours.
Pub not dog friendly so did not use the pub so will not be staying in the future.
