Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nice place, handy pub and a shop right next door, lovely grounds, good dog walking area , friendly staff, people complaining about showers not being powerful enough but they were fine, plenty of hot water,

Disliked: Only complaint was the noise of the sheep, I know we are in the country side but they never seem to sleep!! I had to leave one day early as I was tired and needed to get home to sleep 💤

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The welcoming the owners gave when arrived everything explained for our stay, clean shower/toilet block facilities, how spacious the pitches were, quiet surroundings, peaceful, large dog field, on a public pathway which took you to some beautiful views.

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Price, clean room for washing up and laundry, plentiful toilets and showers, explicit quiet policy between 11pm and 7am, nearby village shop with variety of good supplies and at reasonable prices, river, lots of space, friendly staff, simple minimal rules, good walks off site, a shower that disregarded the 7 minute hot water limit and just kept on going :), pub.

Disliked: Ranks of large caravans (I know, sorry, but you did ask). Only one hand basin in gents' toilets. Showers could be cleaner.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Just spend a last minute weekend here after we had to cancel our booking in the Lakes because of the bad weather. The staff were so friendly and accommodating! The site is lovely. It has a little stream running through which my boys loved playing in. They had a couple of swings and a playing field for the kids. There’s also a pub/restaurant on site. We didn’t get to eat a proper meal there as it was fully booked but we spent Sunday afternoon in the games room and the staff were really lovely. Although they were fully booked for food, they did us some bowl of chips for the kids as they were hungry. The location is beautiful. Only a 15 minute drive to Bishops Castle town and 30 minutes drive to Shrewsbury. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

Disliked: My only complaint is that the toilet block is very outdated and the water pressure is shocking. You do have to pay 20p for 7 minutes for the showers which I don’t think is unreasonable except for the terrible water pressure.

Non-electric grass tent, touring caravan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Central location. Very friendly staff. Stream through the park for the children to play in. Park for the children to play on. Fairly sheltered from wind. Pub right next door that served nice food (gets busy so need to book).

Disliked: Shower block is basic and tired. Could do with updating. They are kept clean and the water is hot but there is no pressure and could do with more hooks and benches in the shower cubicals.

Local attractions

Many visitors to The Green Caravan Park come for Shropshire strolls around the calm country lanes and hills, along the Offa’s Dyke path or from nearby village Wentnor. The park is between the Stiperstone Hills and the Long Mynd, which make up the biggest area of heathland in the Shropshire hills: walk the five and a half miles of the Stiperstone Ridge from the Knolls car park for magnificent views towards the Long Mynd. Folk flock to the area for the birdwatching too: keep an eye out for red kites, plovers and buzzards around the Stiperstones, which is a national nature reserve. This is also castle country: Stokesay, Powis, Montgomery, Clun and Ludlow castles are all within easy driving distance. Have a wander around the festival and foodie town of Ludlow after seeing the castle or see the castle, abbey and over 660 listed buildings of medieval town Shrewsbury, both half an hour away. Industrialists will be kept busy at nearby Snailbeach Lead Mine and historic Ironbridge and the Ironbridge Gorge Museums about 15 miles from Shrewsbury: this World Heritage Site site should keep even the urchins happy, especially going back in time to Blists Hill Victorian Town or creeping down the old Tar Tunnel. Closer to your pitch but dating from further away in time, Bury Ditches Iron Age hill fort is between Clun and Bishop's Castle: go on to the latter for more walks, access to the Shropshire Way and the country’s oldest brewery, the Three Tuns. Well-behaved urchins can be rewarded at several family-friendly Shropshire attractions: if they liked Ironbridge they’ll probably be fond of the historic working farm at the Acton Scott estate, featured on the BBC’s Victorian Farm, or getting close to the natives at Telford’s Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom.
