Perhaps you’re looking for somewhere to park up overnight when travelling on the M40 – or maybe it’s about finding a handy base for exploring the Oxfordshire countryside and the northern part of the Cotswolds National Landscape. Either way, Barnstones Caravan Site makes a great choice for a peaceful break at an adults-only touring site. This peaceful and attractive site is in the pretty village of Great Bourton, about two miles from Banbury (a useful source of shops and places to eat) and three miles from Junction 11 of the M40. That handy location puts it within easy reach of all sorts of attractions, including Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Blenheim Palace, Silverstone and Bicester Village as well as the lovely walks and cute towns of the Cotswolds. The spacious hardstanding pitches all have electric hook-up and a grass space that’s just right for an awning and a couple of camping chairs. The site has been nicely landscaped with lots of mature trees and plants, and it’s also got a good range of essential facilities including a high-quality amenities block with a launderette, washing-up area, toilets and free hot showers. There’s also a chemical disposal point and a wifi service (extra charge) along with a designated dog-walking area where your four-legged pal can have a good run around off lead.

This area is particularly well supplied with grand country estates – Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is probably the most famous, but other local spots like Broughton Castle (15 minutes) and Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) are also well worth visiting.
