  • Simple and quiet site at a working farm 10 minutes' drive from Banbury
  • Half an hour's drive to Warwick Castle; 35 mins to Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Village pub a mile away; five minutes' walk to a reservoir for fishing
Simple, peaceful, scenic… High Furlong Campsite is a quiet pop-up site on a working farm in the Oxfordshire countryside about 10 minutes’ drive north of Banbury. Pitches here are in a large grass field with open rural views, where your neighbours will be the sheep grazing in the next field. It’s a very simple setup here, with just a single toilet on the facilities front but plenty of space for your awning, gazebo, camping chairs and the like. It’s just the place for slowing down and spending some time soaking up the views or chatting to your friends and family. Barbecues and campfires can’t be allowed here due to the fire risk, so for meals you may like to plan the odd evening out in a local pub. Handily there are a few nice ones to choose from nearby – the closest is a mile away in the village of Mollington (with good music as well as good drinks) and there are two more a few minutes’ drive away in Fenny Compton. Supermarkets, shops and takeaways (plus a leisure centre where you can work up an appetite for all that) are in Banbury. Lying back and staring up into the open skies is a viable activity here, but you may also like to take the gentle five-minute walk to Clattercote Reservoir for a waterside stroll or some fishing. There are plenty more footpaths close by for longer walks (including those taking you to the banks of the Oxford Canal), plus cycle routes to Edgehill and other destinations. Warwick Castle and Stratford-upon-Avon are within easy day-tripping distance, and the site of the annual Cropredy Convention music festival is about five minutes’ drive away.
