  • Five minutes' drive from Abingdon town centre and the Thames Path
  • Generous pitches, hot outdoor showers, sunset views and firepits
Pitch up and relax in the great outdoors at High Lodge Farm in Oxfordshire. This peaceful 400-acre farm borders the River Thames and looks out over historic Abingdon (widely thought to be England's oldest town), with views that are particularly spectacular at sunset. Made up of rolling fields, meadows and mature woodland, this back to basics site feels a world away from urban life and is a great place to enjoy a mini break under the stars. This pop-up site has spacious pitches where you can keep warm by hiring a firepit on site. Other facilities include portable toilets, outdoor showers (hot water requires a small fee), a cold-water washing-up station, an outdoor games area, book exchange and a small bale stack to play on. Barbecues are permitted if raised off the ground (no disposable barbecues, please). Firepit hire is subject to availability, and logs are available to purchase between 4pm and 7pm. Dogs are welcome, and select parts of the farm will be open for exclusive walkies with your four-legged friend.

What customers say

A good spot for families with loads of space, and a grand, back-to-nature vibe. Folks loved the big pitches, kids' play zone and forest strolls. Showers were grand, and fire pits a hit. A few mentioned portable loos weren't up to scratch, though, and a bit of bother with the showers now and again.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Location, tranquility a d space of pitch, location to play area/ toilets etc. Farm walks were great

Disliked Washing facilities, not really anywhere to have just a morning wash without a full shower. Would be great if there was a walk to the river.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This was our first time camping as a family of 4 and we had a great time (the weather definitely helped). The site it lovely, big pitches and my children loved the hay bales, blocks and climbing walls in the middle. We enjoyed a little walk along the woods and watching the sun set in the evening. We will definitely return next year.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We absolutely loved this campsite! It had such a warm, family-oriented atmosphere, and it was wonderful being able to let the children play safely in the centre of the field.

The showers were lovely and warm — a real treat — and the views were just beautiful. We felt really well looked after throughout our stay and genuinely enjoyed ourselves.

Having the flexibility to have more than one tent per pitch was perfect, and the pitch sizes were brilliant. We’ll definitely be returning next year!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked First time going with 2 kids and 2 dogs to this site and it’s safe to say both the kids loved it and didn’t want to leave lovely quiet and peaceful only 1 day was quite busy lovely to watch the kids playing and making loads of friends while enjoying the sun set and peoples fires will defo look to book again next year. Pitch sizes fab, paw print walks was brill only thing was we had to ask as all the signs had vanished but next night all sorted and lady even come to tell me she had sorted and was telling us about the Halloween trail coming up.

Disliked No dislikes but when it’s been a busy night toilets and bins got full very quick but then again people need to sort there rubbish in to bins provided, hot water showers could be a tad longer but was ok for the kids with the space of it a couple more kids actives would of been fab but will bring are own next time

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely pitch size with ample space for tent car and dining space. It was a very serene and relaxing. We went as a family of 5 and had a lovely pre sunset walk around the site with lovely views over Abingdon. The children enjoyed the little play area and it was nice that the play area was in the middle of the site so you could always see where they were playing as we positioned our tent with the door looking over the site.

Disliked Others had mentioned about the toilets, and whilst they were portaloo's they werent bad at all. Although a proper block would have been slightly better.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Absolutely lovely campsite. Very quiet, very relaxed, simple facilities that did the job just right. Friendly and helpful staff.
There were loads of families staying and the hay bales and other equipment for children looked great.
We rented a fire pit, bought some logs, and had a wonderful fire all evening, before heading into our tent and listening to the owls.
We’ve just returned home feeling very relaxed and looking forward to returning soon.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked What a great location in a spacious field surrounded on three sides by mature forest and views out over the surrounding fields and countryside on the other. Little play area in the middle was great for kids to play and make friends, easily viewable from all the pitches. Really nice back to basics campsite with simple facilities (toilets, washing up station, and chargeable hot/free cold showers). Pitches were very large, suitable for big family tent, gazebo, and space for two cars easily. Good value for money. We didnt have much cause to contact the owners, but when we did they were very responsive

Disliked Minor points only - Although the portaloos were kept clean I'd be on team compostable toilets given the choice and think it would fit with the campsite. I'd also echo other reviews that the bins would benefit from being larger

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely quiet campsite. Running water facilities and respectful campers. Felt like a little pocket of paradise and very relaxing. My son loved the kids play area and made some treasured friends. I loved the information printable we were emailed before our stay. The instructions were clear and detailed and really helped with planning. The prices were also very affordable

Disliked Only complaint was that the pitches are marked out by posts but there's no rope so it was a little unclear what was pitch and what was road in places. We did eventually figure it out though 🤣 the campsite bins did also get overfull, but sometimes these things happen and it wasn't a huge issue.
