View from the bell tent

General

  • Family-run glampsite in the peaceful village of Elsham
  • Easy access to the east coast, Lincoln, Hull and Humber Bridge
  • Fishing lakes, fishing shop, café and scenic views

Hide away in a handsome bell tent at Hunters Lodge, a spacious glampsite to the north of the Lincolnshire Wolds in the pretty village of Elsham.

Hunters Lodge is a family-run business that also includes a four lake fishery for specimen carp or coarse fishing, five minutes’ walk from the bell tent. Guests are most welcome to book a peg on the specimen lakes to cast off from during their stay; just let the Hunters Lodge team know using the contact details in your booking confirmation email.

The site and lakes are in a peaceful setting with pretty views, 15 minutes’ drive from Humber Bridge and within half an hour of the Lincolnshire coast at Cleethorpes and Grimsby. There’s easy access to days out in Lincoln and Hull too, as well as birdwatching and nature reserves around Humber, hikes along the famed Viking Way, and shopping in the many nearby market towns.

Facilities include a café selling breakfast, snacks, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and homemade scones, and a fishing shop selling angling kit and bait. For the essentials, a toilet facility is provided near the bell tent and a shower and toilet (added in 2019) a few minutes’ walk away. (Please bring a torch as there is no artificial light around the grounds at night.)

To keep the bell tent in a serene setting, cars must be parked in the designated parking area five minutes’ walk from the accommodation. The site team will lend a hand at the start and end of your stay to transfer all your kit.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Just back from a lovely stay with our boys 4 & 7. The tent is in a beautiful spot, fantastic view and plenty of space for the boys to run around and explore. Everything we needed was provided, plates, cups etc, kettle and burner, fire wood, drinking water. The tent is on top of a steep hill but worth the walk up, owners helped to take all our bags up on arrival and back down when we were leaving. There’s a toilet at the top near the tent and shower and toilet down at the bottom about 5 min walk, toilet and shower was nice and clean.
We loved sitting looking at the views in such a peaceful spot. The fire pit was perfect for cooking on too. Really enjoyed our stay and hope to book again in the future.

Fantastic views, spotless tent, excellent amenities & friendly owners08/09/2019

We absolutely loved this place! It was our first time glamping with 2 young children (4 and 8) and it didnt disappoint. The bell tent had everything we needed, including comfortable beds, a chest of drawers, toys for the kids, lamps, pots, pans and burner. We also had a fire pit outside, a picnic bench with a tarpaulin over to keep us from the rain and a portaloo for our use only. Back down on the site was a spotless toilet and shower room too.

The owners were lovely and really helpful, they gave us advice on the surrounding area and things to do and we were greeted with a cup of tea on arrival which was a nice touch after a 2.5 hour journey.

The site was fantastic, especially if you are into fishing. The boys really enjoyed a full day round one of the lakes fishing all day. There is also a fishing tackle shop on site selling equipment, maggots etc.

The tent itself is the only one the on the site so once you are in, it is so peaceful and the views are spectacular. The only slight downside to the tent was it was a bit of a hike past the fishing ponds and right up to the top of quite a steep hill so if you struggled with walking etc that might be a problem however the owners do take all of your equipment up to the tent on arrival and when it is time to leave, in their jeep.

All in all, we had a fantastic, chilled, peaceful time on this little break and would definitely recommend it to anyone (and have since we have returned). Cannot fault this place at all, its wonderful.
