General
- Rural location within walking distance of village centre
- Coarse fishing lake, bike trails and climbing wall on site
- Near the Offa's Dyke Path and other walks
If you're off to hike Offa's Dyke, or to take the Herefordshire Black and White Trail, or to canter England – and Wales – by horseback, or climb, fish or pedal a very short stroll from your pitch… you'll find Leominster's Townsend Touring Park just lovely.
This is a roomy farm site near the Welsh border, with easy access to the Offa's Dyke Path and set on the edge of Pembridge, one of Herefordshire's Black and White villages. Scenic walks and cycle trails, several golf clubs and horse riding are all in the area – as well as several pubs in which to sample the local cider...
Back at base, there's a coarse fishing lake to try your luck at, along with woodland all-weather bike trails, a rock climbing wall and areas for ball games. A comfy lounge with TV, pool table, table tennis table and limited wifi access was added for guests' use in 2017 (please buy codes for the wifi in reception).
Also on site are picnic tables and a small shop, and amenities including showers, toilets, baby changing facilities, disabled access, a launderette and a washing-up area.
The centre of Pembridge a few minutes' walk away has two pubs, a restaurant, cafés, a church and an art gallery.

Local attractions
Local footpaths and the site woodland should keep your feet occupied for some time, but if you want a longer or more strenuous hike, access the Offa's Dyke Path five miles from Townsend. It runs for 177 miles from near Chepstow to finish at Prestatyn on the Welsh north coast, via the old Offa's Dyke earthwork, the Shropshire Hills and the Black Mountains: the truly determined should be able to triumphantly complete it in 12 days (or so).
A seven-mile drive will take you to the market town of Leominster, the site of the National Trust's Croft Castle and 13th-century Priory Church, along with good shops and restaurants, pubs and cafés, and a public swimming pool.
The kids should also be all right zipping around the go-kart raceway at Weobley (seven miles) or the play areas and family activities of the Oaker Wood Leisure woodland centre, eight miles away. Horse riding is available at Bryngwyn Riding Centre, 12 miles from the farm.
Golf courses are at Kington (six miles), Weobley (seven miles) and Hereford (16 miles) for the keen ball gamer; for till ringing and heaps of heritage, check out the shopping and historic buildings in Hereford as well as Worcester and Gloucester, 30 and 40 miles away.
