  • Bell tents among apple trees on a working Herefordshire farm
  • Comfortable facilities among scenic countryside views
  • Beds and woodburning stove in each bell tent; private firepit outside
If you're going to stay in cider country, then what could be better than glamping in a orchard? Almost half of the UK's apples are used in the brewing of cider nowadays and you needn't travel far in summer in east Herefordshire to find apple pickers busy harvesting their fruit. (Not that this is anything new... Caesar spotted the Celts sipping on a sweet and pungent crab apple brew when he invaded England in 55BC and it wasn't long before the Roman troops were shipping the stuff back home. Even in Rome they were celebrating the Herefordshire apple harvest...) Celebrate it for yourself from a bell tent at Perry Tree Glamping, in the scenic, cidery world of rural Herefordshire. The bell tents are pitched on raised and flat bases, looking out over the hedgerows to the countryside; guests also have access to hammocks suspended between the tree trunks. The site has been kept deliberately small so guests have plenty of privacy and so the site has an exclusive feel. The tents all have proper double beds, woodburning stoves, fairy lights and bunting; toilets, showers, a communal fridge and a campfire area are all outside. And finally? Make sure you neigh a greeting to Belinda the donkey too, who chomps her way through the field adjacent to the bell tents: she's a big fan of all the new-found attention...

Local attractions

If you're not sampling local tipple on one of the nearby cider tours, then walking in the Mendip Hills or touring the historic towns – the timbered buildings of Ledbury (20 minutes' drive) or the grand cathedrals of Hereford (25 minutes) and Worcester (35 minutes – are safe bets. Guests are also welcome to bring their bikes along to get out and explore the area: bring your basket along too so you can stock up on local treats like cider and crab apple jelly along the way (when in Rome...).
