  • Stylish glamping in the grounds of a Gloucestershire flower farm
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Chepstow; Offa's Dyke two miles
  • Cosy furnished bell tents with a private shower room
Let your rural holiday plans bloom at Hope Farm Retreats, a stylish glamping site in the grounds of a Gloucestershire flower farm on the edge of St Briavels. These exclusive bell tents are located in secluded parts of a 13-acre family farm in the spectacular Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making this site a top base for family or couples' breaks exploring gorgeous countryside in both England and Wales. The funky shape of these canvas bell tents creates a festival-style vibe in this corner of the farm. Each cosy accommodation unit is fully furnished and comes with lots of home comforts, including all bed linen and towels and little extras like herbal teas, coffee, milk and olive oil. Seating, a firepit, pots and pans, cutlery, crockery and glassware are all provided too, and there's a shared outdoor kitchen near the main farm buildings. A shower room for private use is available roughly a three-minute walk away. You'll be sharing the site with the bevy of animals that call Hope Farm home – both residents like the chickens, miniature ponies and sheep (which guests are welcome to help feed and look after) and wild visitors like bats, bees, hedgehogs and birds. At night, this designated dark sky area is an excellent spot for some stargazing – just have a chat with the site owners if you'd like to borrow their glow in the dark star charts.

Local attractions

Hope Farm is located on the edge of the village of St Briavels, within easy walking distance of attractions like a community-run deli and an early 12th-century castle. In addition, a number of on-site craft and nature-themed activities are available in the farm's flower barn, so you won't have to stray far to find something stimulating to see or do. The site is also about two miles from Offa's Dyke, a fab long-distance trail built on ancient earthworks that run along the English-Welsh border, taking in many of the best stretches of the local farmland, woodland and river Wye scenery. Plenty of historic sites are very close to the trail too, including Tintern Abbey (10 minutes' drive) and Chepstow Castle (15 minutes). For more active and adventurous times, you might like to head to Forest of Dean Go Ape (20 minutes) for treetop explores, for walks around the stunning forest at Puzzlewood (10 minutes), for artistically-inclined strolls at the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail (15 minutes) or out kayaking on the river around Symonds Yat (25 minutes).

Bell tent

Liked: Hope Farm was a wonderful spot to have a holiday in a beautiful part of the country. My partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed the location, the hospitality from the owners, and the great facilities.
We were able to cook outdoors and indoors depending on the weather. There were supplies to make a fire, and almost all of the things needed were provided (or otherwise we were told in advance.
The tent itself was great; spacious and well looked after. There was an eco toilet near the tent and also the full indoor shower rooms and bathrooms.

The location too was lovely with some east local walks to do (we didn’t need to drive)- the village is nice and with life to it.

Jo and her family were incredibly welcoming and we were made to be very comfortable. The daughter also provided a little tuck shop feature which was great after a long walk!

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend young couples like us to go and stay at Hope Farm.
