  • Family-owned farm site in open countryside with Forest of Dean views
  • Under 10 minutes’ drive from Newnham-on-Severn and 25 to Wye Valley
  • Half a mile from the River Severn and the Severn Way
Big skies, green Gloucestershire countryside and artisan booze: what more could one want on a hol than this trip-boosting trio? If this sounds like just the holiday ticket, seek out Severn Valley Touring Caravan and Camping Site in the village of Awre, less than a five-minute walk from a traditional cider producer and a 10-minute drive to lovely Newnham-on-Severn. The park's also in an easy position to get to, as it's a mile and a half from the A48 Gloucester to Chepstow road and 25 minutes by car from the Wye Valley. Park up, pitch up then sit – cider in hand – to take in the gorgeous views from here (the Forest of Dean and the Malvern Hills are visible on clear days) and watch birds soar through the skies: the site's surrounds are home to creatures like kestrels, buzzards and red kites. Early risers might get a sneak peek of hares around the grounds at dawn too, and barn owls have been spotted in neighbouring fields during dusk in this ancient area once listed in the Domesday book as a royal hunting ground… Whatever the time of day or night, visitors have access to well-designed amenities like a purpose-built toilet and shower block, as well as covered washing-up facilities and a shower room that’s accessible to people with disabilities. Off site, the Severn Way is about half a mile away for roams beside the river. Time your visit right (check timetables online) to get a glimpse of the Severn Bore phenomenon, the surfable waves that roll right through the water at certain times of the year…

What customers say

A wonderfully clean site with private, level pitches. Toilets and showers are spotless. Great for a relaxing rural break, though you'll need the car for supplies. Lovely, helpful hosts.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked This was our return visit, as we loved our stay in April. Clean toilet and shower blocks. Spacious pitches, bordered for privacy, with EHU and water available. No dogs allowed on site. Great set up and helpful, friendly hosts. Will definitely return again and again. Peaceful getaway and close to the Forest of Dean, to enjoy a walk and a picnic. Wonderful sunset/sunrise opportunities. Tasty homemade apple juice available, made from the apple blossom trees onsite.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Every place in this site is very clean and tidy including the toilet and showers. Run by friendly family who paid attention to all details.
Lovely place and views nearby a farm. Good base to explore Gloucestershire and not very far by car from Wales cities.
Large space pitch. Benches next to the shower block and washing area. Also has small fridge and freezer, so got our water cooled in the hot weather :)
Thanks to Joanne who was amazing and ready for any help!

Shepherd's hut

Liked Loved the location really peaceful. The hut was immaculately clean bath sheets instead of a small bath towels were provided everything was perfectly appointed.

Disliked The wasps in the hedge. It would’ve been quite nice to have wasp trap but understandably it is a rural location and unfortunately wasps are part of our world!
