  • Family glamping in fully furnished tents near Tewkesbury
  • A 25-minute drive to Cheltenham, and 35 minutes to All Things Wild
  • Nature walk, play area on site; pubs, shops and golf 10 minutes’ drive
Offering luxury glamping in furnished tents at The Paddock, Bowrundel Lifestyle sits in Gloucestershire countryside near Tewkesbury, and is handy for both the M5 and M50. It’s a family-friendly spot with a kids’ play area and plenty of room for ball games and outdoor activities, and parents can easily keep an eye on their kids from the tents. Speaking of the tents, these are safari tents that come decked out with beds, a sofa, a kitchenette and a woodburner, plus festoon and fairy lights for a magical night-time vibe. A short walk takes you to the old stable block, now converted to washrooms housing spotless toilet and shower facilities, plus a baby-changing area. On this eco-friendly site, hot water is mostly generated by solar panels mounted on the roof. If you do decide to cook for yourselves, the washing-up area is at the side of the stable block – you can pick up stuff from the supermarkets in Tewkesbury (10 minutes’ drive), where there are also plenty of traditional beamed pubs serving tasty local grub if you’re having a break from cooking. Back at base, there’s an on-site nature trail where you can spot wild flowers, birds and insects. The owners encourage you to stick to the footpath so you don’t disturb the wildlife.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: We camped on the meadow in our own tent. There were four of us and our dog. The site was beautifully maintained and the surroundings/views are lovely. We were extremely impressed with the superb toilet/shower facilities - the best by far we have encountered. Although we did not have very small children with us, the little play area and nature trail path are great features for those who have. I would highly recommend the site to anyone. Although we were aware of the sound of traffic from the road at night, it did not bother us or make sleeping difficult.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: I can't say a bad word about this site. Really nice, clean facilities, decent showers, baby changer. Nice views, lots of space for the kids to play and a small playground. Close to Tewkesbury (drive in less than 10 mins) and close to Twyning village with a couple of nice pubs, one right on the river which did nice pizzas. We stayed in our own tent but the huts and safari tents look great would consider coming back and staying there in winter.

Bluebell 2 bedroom safari tent

Liked: Very well thought out - loved the set up using the longer grass to mark out each safari tent's own area with fire pit and picnic bench. Beautiful view from the decking of the safari tent which was particularly good in the evenings. Lovely nature walk around the field and play area for younger children and even a box of outdoor toys. Safari tent itself was well equipped with everything you might need. Excellent toilet block.

Bluebell 2 bedroom safari tent

Liked: A truly amazing stay with friends! An excellent location and views were incredible! The safari tent was very cosy and housed 6 of us very comfortably! Lovely fire pit & grill and great kitchen utilities! Didn’t need to use the wood burner inside but a lovely edition nonetheless! Spacious decking and chairs for multiple occupants. The owners were very friendly and very swift to answer any questions or help in any way!! 10 minute drive into Tewksbury town centre but some lovely establishments closer to hand in Twyning.

Local attractions

History abounds in this corner of Gloucestershire, with medieval Tewkesbury just 10 minutes’ drive down the road. Stroll in the grounds of the abbey or picnic at the spot where the Avon and Severn rivers meet – and there are lots of indie shops to snoop around too, offering anything from antiques to vintage albums. You might also like to admire the Georgian architecture in elegant Cheltenham, or explore the historic docks in Gloucester (both 25 minutes’ drive). If you’d rather get active, golf and boating are within 10 minutes’ drive, and you can fish for carp on the River Severn (15 minutes). Bredon Hill National Nature Reserve (20 minutes) is a lovely spot for meandering walks in woodland and meadows to Iron Age forts and castle ruins. The kids can get hands-on with keeper sessions and meerkat encounters at All Things Wild activity centre (35 minutes), spot the artworks at Showborough House Garden Sculpture Exhibition (10 minutes’ walk) or let off steam in the adventure playground at Sudeley Castle and Gardens (half an hour’s drive), while you check out the Tudor-themed exhibitions.
